I'll explain some things. I wanted to work with wood, and create things, for a long time. but every time I tried, things didn't end up as i saw them in my mind. What else is new [wink]
Three months ago, I decided that it was time to spend some time for myself and my long wanted hobby. This time the money wasn't the issue anymore. Still looking for the money tree but okay.
So I bought the router OF 1010 That came with a 80cm rail and some other stuff. The festool special demo man even surprised me with the festool toaster(!) and a 50 euro cheque for accessories.
After that It took only a week for me to purchase the next one, the PS300ebq. [embarassed]
Still... there was something missing... Yep, the saw... So... big problem, would I buy the 55 or the 75. Bigger or smaller, does size Mather or not...
The salesman advised the 55, It was smaller, easier to handle etc. I thought, well, it wil be on the rail most of the time so weight is no issue and bought the 75. No toaster this time [sad]
Well, the saw is GREAT!!! I must say, size DOES mather. my first cut was a plate MDF but with two beams gluwed below it for support. Total depth; 70mm.... thnx for the 75 [smile]
The weight? no problem at all, better, i think the heavier saw goes better on the rail because of its weight.
When i bought the 75, the salesman asked me about the OF1010, was it okay? With a red head I had to admit that i didn' had time yet to use it. BUT....
i did research for the project to come and for that i needed a 12mm shaft [huh].... no can do with the 1010....
He asked my why i didn't took the 1400 instead. Well the Festool demo man told me that the only difference was that it had more power and it was heavier....
One cup of coffee later we had a deal for swapping the 1010 into the 1400. He told me to leave the extras at home [wink] Gave me another extra bonus ( 492601, don't no the English name for it) and for a 130 euro extra the swap was made. Great deal i think! because he gave me allready 6 nice cutters. not the best cutters, but certainly no rubbish.
After that, i still had the cheque. For that i bought, with some extra money, the FS-KS. That was no smart move....
I thought the FS-KS would help me to saw in 90 degrees straight. ( or any other angle). The problem with this thing is that the pointer is to big for the scale. If you put it exactly on the 90. What is exactly ? Turning the point just a fraction, gives still 90 on the scale. But if your saw distance is 220cm.... a small difference changes into a LARGE .
I think that the pointer should better be made from perspex so you can see trough it. A very Small red line should be the pointer and it should be laying on the scale. After reading here, I've found out that I'm not the only one with a problem with this tool. Some even modified it.
Next weak IL see a customer who has a metal company. All ask him if he can make something to solve this.
