Inventorying your Festools

I like to keep a good record of all my significant purchases so I use an inventory program (Delicious Library) to keep track. However, I have a couple of questions for the FOG...
Does anyone else use an inventory system and if so, which?
Does anyone use a barcode/QR scanner?
With regard to the QR code, it seems to be two zeros, Tl.Nr. (tool number maybe?), two zeros, the stock number or whatever it is called (?) (564274 in the case of my CXS set), and the serial number (S.Nr.).
I guess it is likely the sets of zeros are just padding for their respective fields. Can anyone offer clarification?

Thanks!  [thanks]

I use the Festool app from the apple store.
It stores our purchases including serial numbers, date purchased etc and emails a certificate to us for each tool as further back up.
Probably another NAIA?

Unfortunately the Festool App is not available in the US. Tried switching to UK store to download via iTunes, but of course your iTunes is tied to location, and it will send you back to the US store.

Shane - whatsamatter you? Why we don't have this?! [poke]

[popcorn]

If its of any consolation that app seems to be UK only or possibly UK/DE ... not available in Finland/EU either.

A while back I started buying fishing gear and boating accessories when I splurged on a hole in the ocean ... I was keeping a record, but there's a point where it just gets scary [eek]

Now when spending on a particular "path" I just leave it to the gods.

I just keep a photo record of it for insurance purposes. Seems my investment keeps getting larger every month or two  [eek]

I use an Excel spreadsheet backed up by a scanned PDF file of every receipt for any Festool product ever bought.

I, too, keep my records in an Excel spreadsheet.

The barcode on the Systainer is actually a Datamatrix barcode, not a QR code. Not that it technically matters as long as you are able to scan it, and it seems you are. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Data_Matrix

It does contain the TR number (an internal number somewhat related to the model of the tool), the product/catalog number and the serial number. The zeroes are just padding and can be discarded. Just a note that are migrating to a 16-digit serial number. So, you may see that with newer tool purchases.

Without getting too deep into the technical stuff, we do not operate on the same IT infrastructure in the U.S. as Germany does. So, for that reason, the app would not work here without being customized for us.

Registering your tools on our website will give you the same capability as the app, plus we let you optionally upload a digital copy of your receipt for archival. http://www.festoolusa.com/register

And, I'd like to think I'm worth more than just swapping me for an app. So, counter offer for some NAINA. [tongue]

Awesome, thanks for the info Shane!

Shane, is there any way to add the receipt after registering? I registered my domino,  but did it on my phone and uploading the receipt pic kept causing my browser to crash.

Well, there will be.  [unsure]

I had posted on here a few times that I am in the process of creating the account management tools that will allow you to update, view, managed your tool registrations and such. Regrettably, I have been saying that for a while now because other priorities have prohibited me from working on it. But, yes, there will be.

Shane - IAAINA - Invaluable and Available In North America - we would never trade you for an app.

Thanks, guys. I do my best to be a good resource for all of you. But, it's not all me. Credit goes to our great dealers and my fellow Festool USA teammates.
