is it all short on stock or only me?

Love the Mafell section  [not worthy] [not worthy] [not worthy]

Hey Matt [member=65062]DynaGlide[/member]  what are those green cords next to the jigsaw blades in the Festool display used for? I've never seen them before.

Just kidding  [big grin] that's from my trip to Germany

Boo!

I was about to ask if you’d ship a green power cord.

These are PUR-cables. (Oil and flame resistant, highly flexible). Similar to the orange extension cords from the same material.

Well thanks for that... [smile] and they are different than the black variety in what way/usage?  When to use green, when to use black?

No Velvet rope around the mafell section?  No signs telling folks Portable Band Saws make great stocking stuffers? No "ask about our 96 month payment plans" ?    [tongue]

They are less flexible and the material is very strong - you can pretty much run them over by a lorry without a risk of the cable bursting. They are also oil-resistant as mentioned so will not decompose if put in an oil dump in car shop etc. At this thickness level, these are the strongest cables I have seen in normal use.

In practice they are a bit stiffer so are better (mode predictable) when used tied-in with a hose. But for standalone use the stiffness can be a disadvantage in turn. Unlike with "stiff" rubber cables the stiffness comes from the insulation material which is very hard not form thickness or from the wire itself. I like them also for the color - easy to see at all times where the cable is.

Not sure how old the photo is, but Mafell didn't get to the T-locs until more recently, but they do now ship stuff in T-locs.

Ya, when I ordered my P1 CC a couple of years ago, I fully expected it to arrive in a Gen I because that's all they showed on the website. Surprise, it showed up in a T-Loc instead.  [big grin]

Festool stores here in Holland are just as empty, it's making me cry inside.

I have never seen a display with Mafell tools before, that's an incredible rare sight.

The green pur cords are very stiff, I had one and I didn't like it at all. Seems indestructable though, the cable itself, but the Plug-It part breaks just as easily as with the normal ones.

Increases their exclusivity, helps support very posh pricing.

Well thanks for that... [smile] and they are different than the black variety in what way/usage?  When to use green, when to use black?

I learnt from a specialist Festool dealer in Stockholm that the green PUR cables was favoured by typical car body shops, furniture makers and so forth who work with delicate surfaces.
These cables do apparently not easily leave marks as the black ones can do. I have one as spare, and it seems a little bit more rigid.

buying my very first TSC 55 and sander, not a single one in stock in my aera, Im from Canada.
is this means they are refreshing the products? maybe just changing the package to new sys3? or maybe just add cordless sander to the line?

So, there is a global shortage of all Festool Stuff. Almost every festool dealer is stripped to the shelves of everything.

Sys 3 change over has caused some items to be gone for bits of time. You also have people hunting down the old versions to avoid Sys 3.

Festool did just announce a new version of the TSC55, I doubt it's shipping in Europe yet, and it tends to take 1/2-1 year for things to show up in the new world.  You will have to decide if it is worth the wait for the new version to you.

So yeah, finding one could be a challenge right now.  You might want to keep an eye on the Festool Recon site, I think it's available to Canadians too.

Did you try ultimatetools.ca

Cheese, I wonder what is up with the TS75s that have popped up lately?
I got one a few weeks ago after someone posted about US Tool & Fastener having them in stock. At least a few other members here got them too.
Mine came in a T-loc Systainer. I guess that these could have been sitting in some warehouse somewhere and just got discovered?
Maybe the "unavailable until further notice" is the new stock coming out of the factory? Maybe those will be in new Sys3?

Same for the Domino 500. Out of stock everywhere.

I receive a product alert notice from US Tool & Fastener for the Domino 700. Don't recall signing up for that, but I checked the 500 set and it's in stock. Same place that sent me the notice on the TS 75. I, of course, jumped all over the 500. It's in a T-Loc container and was manufactured 2021-02.

They could have also decided to make a batch from available spare parts stock ..

Either way, combining the elevated demand with supply chain and workforce restrictions going off just about now across Europe, I would not expect available stock situation to get significantly better till Q4 or so as it will take some time for the dealers to re-stock even after back-orders are filled. And then comes another x-mas season ..

Finger in the air: Expect a return to "normal" around Q2 2022.

Ref. the dates posted, knowing production plants are in operation and not closed, I would suspect these dates are missing context. Most likely these were not "when we can make some" but more of "we project the supply will meet demand at this time" type of dates.

I hate it when stuff like this leaks from a project team even internally in a company.
A simple "what-if" scenario can easily be taken for a "plan" and just wastes everyone's time to damage-control the confusion.

I ventured into the local SW store today for some paint & supplies. The first thing I noticed is the Festool items that were on display no longer are. The sanders are gone as is all the sandpaper.  [sad]

That in itself didn't surprise me as I figured that SW would never be capable of perpetuating the momentum needed to sustain the Festool supply line.

Painters generally, just don't buy into the Festool system because of the expense. All they need in their mind (and they're not necessarily wrong) are a half dozen sanding sponges and some flat sheets of sandpaper that they can form into whatever shape they need.

So, with that local supplier of Granat crossed off the list, I looked around for some primer and paint. Here's what I found in the primer aisle. These shelves were always completely filled with gallon cans of primer. All that's left is a bunch of 12 oz rattle cans.

[attachimg=1]

And here's what I found in the paint aisle. Less than a couple dozen quarts of paint.  [crying]

[attachimg=2]

So...not much of anything.  [eek]  I questioned the clerk and she informed me that ever since the melt-down in Texas in February/March, their local resin manufacturers in Texas had to discard all of their product because of the lack of electricity, consequently, the resin suppliers never got things up and running until sometime after the spring rush for painting supplies in North America happened.
So for the last 6 months they've been trying to play catch-up with the NA painting season. Every week the local SW puts in an order and with every delivery they're lucky to receive 20%-25% of what they ordered. They hope with the slowdown of the painting season in the fall that they can start to recover the inventory that they need.

I asked for 2 gallons of Duration Exterior and they had zero...

I asked for a gallon of All Surface Enamel and they only had 2 quarts...

Let's see where this goes and for how long.  [smile] [popcorn]

A friend who works for a large housing developer told me that darker colors of vinyl siding are backordered with no clear delivery dates. Buyers can wait or switch to a lighter color that has better availability.

Wow Cheese, misery loves Company.... [wink]  I was JUST at my closest S-W store near my house. NO PVA DRYWALL primer in stock, no other store had the Gallons of it either. I 'could' go to a nearby S-W store and buy 5 gallon buckets.....they had that in stock there...
I almost never work with drywall, so that wasn't an option..... [big grin] [big grin] [big grin] Maybe sell the excess left over on Ebay???  [smile]

They cut me a deal on their Multi-Function Latex Primer, in qt cans no less, and added a clean/new empty Gallon Container to put my 4 individual qts into..... [blink] [blink]

Jeez, it's a Supply Chain Jungle out there..... [eek] [eek]
