Hi,
I need to cut up to 3" 1/2 high. it means my TS55  is out the question.  the board I need to cut is a combination of hardwood veneer panel and walnut hardwood. The veneer panel is surrounded by hardwood. The hardwood is 3" 1/2 high on both sides.  Could the Carvex cut straight without destroying the veneer? I imagine I would need an specific blade too.

Thanks  a lot
alex

Straight cut or curved ? Captured cut or just trimming an end?  How big is this panel ?

The issue I see is the blade that will cut the ply well will be horrible on the thick hardwood.

I would hardly anywhere say the Carvex is the right choice, but a jigsaw by itself is most certainly not the right choice here, you can forget about cutting straight with that on such a deep cut. Really, go to your local wood supplier and have them make the cut for you on their table or band saw.

This.

Do it with a TS 55 in two passes from both sides, if you really have to do it yourself at home.
Else motivate someone else (with money, if needed) to do it on equipment made for that kind of job.

with so little info it's hard to say if a table or bandsaw would even be able to make the cut alex needs.

A tablesaw would be worthless if the cut doesn't need to be straight.

Thanks for all your help!

Carvex is not the right tool then. I will continue to do this as i have been doing it.

All of this gets me closer to a Hammer :)
