Is the Renofix RG 130 interchangeable w/the Metabo RSEV 19-125 RT (603825750)?

Hi All,

I'm wondering if the various diamond cutting discs produced for these two 120V tools are fully interchangeable. Since, aside from some cosmetic differences and different motor specs, these appear to be basically the same tool (likely produced in the same factory) I'm looking for confirmation that my assumption regarding the tooling is accurate.

I think I can source the 120V Festool-version of the grinder (575423):

...but might be perfectly happy with the much easier to source 120V Metabo version (though the lack of a depth setting function might rule it out):

The pricing for the consumable cutting discs is what's going to drive my choice. Ideally, I want the flexibility of being able to use either the Metabo-branded discs (example) or the Festool-branded discs (example) on whichever machine I end up selecting.

I'm guessing that the diameter difference between the tooling (130mm versus 125mm) is akin to the "difference" between a ribbed, 36mm Festool-branded extractor hose and an "other-branded", ribbed, 35mm extractor hose. In other words, there is no "difference" - this is just an example of Festool attempting to claim a proprietary design when the reality is that there is no meaningful difference between a 35mm ribbed hose and 36mm ribbed hose - all the respective fittings, regardless of branding, are interchangeable (just like there may be no meaningful difference between a 125mm disc and a 130mm disc). Now, perhaps Festool spec'd an arbor diameter that is different from the arbor diameter on the Metabo. That could be. But given that neither company publishes the arbor diameters of their respective grinders, I'm stuck having to seek the assistance of my fellow Foggers.

Thanks, in advance, for your assistance.

On the Dutch website Festool says their grinding wheels for the RG 130 also fit the AGC 125.

The Festool and Metabo do not look the same to me, so I would not assume anything, but try it in person.

I sincerely doubt the Festool is any better than the Metabo, especially since Metabo has a reputation regarding their grinders. I don't think you can go wrong buying the Metabo. And I also think you should not have to worry about Festool discs, but that there are many other brands that can supply these discs for you. But if you really want the Festool discs, take your new Metabo grinder to the Festool store and see if they fit.

Alex - thanks for the suggestions. The problem is that there's no way for me to see either of these tools (or their respective accessories) in person. The Renofix has never been available in the United States (it was available last year as a limited release in Canada) and the closest bricks and mortar source for the Metabo is hundreds of miles away. IOW your suggestion of "just go see them in person" isn't at all realistic for me based upon where I live. Hence why I'm reaching out to the FOG.

Well, if that's your situation, why not stick to one brand for both tool and accessories? Only sensible thing to do. You are mistaken if you think the Festool Renofix and its discs are any better than those of Metabo.

I have the Metabo 125 and it's a beast with the diamond cutter.  I just ground 1/2" on 32" in my daughters basement to give the stairs a level platform.  Hooked up to my AS 36, nothing escaped as long as I let the disc wind down before lifting.

Actually, I do not have an opinion one way or another in regards to the quality of the discs or the respective machines. The only factor for me is price and availability. And the world is my oyster, so to speak. Meaning, that I am happy to purchase consumables like discs from wherever in the world has the best pricing. And the pricing for the various makes and models of discs is all over the place. So, before I dedicate anymore time to sourcing discs I simply want to know what I'm up against in regards to the comparability or incompatibility between the various makes of discs and these two particular makes of machines (both of which BTW are manufactured in Germany). You see, I need to know if the discs are interchangeable so that if my internet sleuthing discovers that I can get the Festool discs for cheaper than the Metabo offerings (or vice versa) then I want to be able to buy whichever is cheapest and/or whichever does the job the best (i.e. rates the highest).

I have just got a renofix rg-130 and it has a 25mm arbor - and not the 22.2mm which is standard. So I can't use any of my existing discs which is very dissapointing (given how expensive festool ones are). The main reason for chosing festool over metabo was the adjustable depth but I'm kind of regretting it now.
Unless anyone knows if you can change the flange for a 22.2mm one?
You can fit the smaller disc if you use a m14 nut that has a 22.2mm raised bit on it (like most angle grinders do) but then the disc sits too high and is pround of the shroud at all settings which kind of defeats the purpose.
