Is the TI-15+3 still a gamer?

Folks,

I have a chance to pickup a TI-15+3 that is new and unused for $300 plus an additional systainer. I know this is an older drill but based on reviews here and online at the time of its heyday, it seemed to be a great and versatile drill/driver.

Any opinions on how it's aged? Still well regarded?

Thanks,

-Chris

Mine is older but I love it.  I have the various chucks and the right angle has saved my bacon numerous times.

Peter, do you know if it works with the newer 18v 15.2Ah batteries? I just bought 6 of those along with my TCS 55 and HKC 55.

Do you get good battery life with the original battery?

-Chris

I like my TI15 as a hammer drill. It’s not a replacement for my Bosch SDS hammer drill, but more than adequate for most tasks.

I don’t use it as a true drill as I have others that do that job better.

I would take advantage of the deal you are offered as long as the TI15 is truly in an as new condition.

Oops, it's a T15+3 not a Ti15+3!!

Does anyone have experience with the T15+3... seems there was some negativity around the Ti, but the T15 seems to get solid reviews.

Love to hear experiences with the T15+3!

Sorry for the confusion,

-Chris

I have 2 T15-3's at least 10 years old, not babied. I have turned 6" holes saws both toothed and diamond, 1-1/8" ship augers 18" long.

Batteries still going strong, not a single issue with the drills or accessories that came with them.

My CXS's have replaced the T15's as my daily drills but the t15's are there when I need them and never let me down.

Thanks, Tom!

Exactly the feedback I was looking for.

Sounds like a decent value for a new, never used, T15+3 kit + Systainer and an additional Sys Box1 for $300?

Try the batteries. If they appear to be okay, buy it.

It probably is a good deal, with the one caveat of the batteries having probably sat in a shelf for thee years.. But I'm not entirely sure that is necessarily a negative with li-ion batteries.

You will not be able to use any 18v batteries on a T15 but the t15 batteries can be used on 18v machines, sometimes at a cost of slightly less rpm.  Many many many satisdied customers here taking about the t15 over the years. I've never used a 15v festool so can't comment myself.

But for what it is worth, i found the C12 way underpowered for the size of drill it was, and that was 5/6 years ago. Despite a lot of reports here where peoole have apparentlyl been supprised and impressed by the power the c12 had..  But ive bought 3 T18s because it's my favorite drill ever by far (Although it does need the compact batteries for me to love it quite so much as I do) I have loved the cxs, but it's rare i ever considered being able to take it as my only drill for a day, as i so often need more power than it has.

I think that providing raw power is not a main  priority, and you are OK with the partial compatability with the current 18v range, the T15 will undoubtedly be a wonderful drill and $300 is a great price.

It is worth noting too that the modern chargers for the T15 and all 18v rage are cross compatible. All your chargers will charge all your batteries (assuming you don't have any 8+ year old festool drills around, and excluding the CXS/TXS)

Can't use 18v batteries in the T15. I have both the T15 and the TSC55, the batteries are similar in size and at first glance you'd think they would fit but the way they attach (the electrical contacts) is different. The 15v batteries can be used on the TSC55 but the 18v batteries can not be used on the T15.

I have one. It gets used every single working day. 8+ years old. Replaced my batteries not quite a year ago as they were starting to show their age/use. I have had to replace the case(s) once as I dropped it from on high when it was stupid cold out. I don't understand why Festool has dropped the 15. I have always thought it was a great drill/driver. I use it regularly to hole saw 6 1/4" holes in addition to all the other work that it does. It really is a work horse.

Started off with the 15, sold drill combo then picked an 18 for tandem use. I think they have some run out but other than that no issues.
