i have been a long time festool junkie and remember their old deal pricing ....i know the catalog combos....i was nervous that i would get bombarded by all the usual stuff. thanks though...... i was just surprised by what seemed odd. a discount on every purchase over 500. what went through my mind was it was a way to compensate for the sales tax advantage of mail order...cal. has high sales tax, especially LA county.with free shipping from mail order places it is 10 percent added saving. just a thought.
I have some pretty old Festool catalogs around and I don't remember (I could be wrong) seeing discounts for orders over $500.00. Actually,
somewhere around 2003, Festool had a major price reduction -
yes, reduction in Fesool USA's list prices. As I mentioned above in a previous post, a few years ago, Festool did have a "multi-tool" discount - buy 3 tools, save 10%, buy 5 or more tools and save 15%. Currently all 'discounts" are what's listed earlier - "Other than package deals, seasonal promos, "while suppies last" promos and reduced pricing on discontinued items, there are no other legitimate discounts on the tools."
Currently, all "package deals" are for the TS saws/MFT/3, most sanders/CT vacs and Kapex/MFT3 Kapex. I agree that an expanded"package", such as an MFT/Router would be something welcomed by many - myself included. Again, dealers can't substitute/change tools in the listed package discounts.
However, we dealers do have
some discretion, as Tom mentioned, (for example, substituting a longer rail for for the TS saw, breaking up boxes of sandpaper, etc.) and I also agree with Tom's assessment regarding Festool's goals - they want the customer to be satisfied, - without that "race to the bottom".
