I am not a Festool employee, but can answer with this one with certainty. At one time, there were two "multi" tool discounts, but that was years ago. Other than package deals, seasonal promos, "while suppies last" promos and reduced pricing on discontinued items, there are no other  legitimate discounts on the tools.

The only thing I'd add to what Bob said is that he is referring to N. America. I understand there can be deals made in other countries.

If you'd like to talk about I'd guess Shane would like to hear who was offering the discount. You might want to PM him.

Tallgrass,

What you may be referring to is the package deals that are offered.  For instance, if you buy the Kapex you get 10% off the MFT/3 Kapex.  If you buy a Rotex you get 10% of the CT-22 and so on.  There are also some 10% and more off discontinued items but those are not quantity discounts.

Would there be a discount if you bought a mft3 and a of 1400 router?

In North America - not that I can see according to the catalog.  MFT combo pricing includes the TS55 and TS75  and the MFT3 with the Kapex.

If there's not, there should be.  Maybe add it to the Festool wish list.

Peter is having a senior moment (and he's not a senior ;D). The package deal with the Kapex is with the MFT/Kapex, not the MFT/3.

I don't know of any restrictions to customers getting what they desire as long as we, the dealers, don't demean the products in the eyes of the market. Basically, I think, Festool management wants happy customers just like all other companies. They sell a premium product and they invest in the best materials, processes, service, and intellect. It seems perfectly fair to me that they want to protect all of that from the "race to the bottom" in which most of their competitors participate.

I'll use PaulMarcel's comments in another thread about abrasives as an example... He can get what he wants in an abrasives package. I and others work with customers who have little use for the "big box" of abrasives. That's why some of us are willing to sell "mixed sets".

As long as we can agree that the value is what Festool says, we can work with the customers. It's just more work for the dealer, both on the financial end and the stocking end. I think everyone should try to get what they want and if not, try again.

Brice is correct that I messed up.  Looked.  Saw.  Typed.  Oops.

Back to my rocker.  Laptop in tow.  Finger on the delete button.  [eek] [eek]

Laughing at myself,

i have been a long time festool junkie and remember their old deal pricing ....i know the catalog combos....i was nervous that i would get bombarded by all the usual stuff. thanks though...... i was just surprised by what seemed odd. a discount on every purchase over 500. what went through my mind was it was a way to compensate for the sales tax advantage of mail order...cal. has high sales tax, especially  LA county.with free shipping from mail order places it is 10 percent added saving. just a thought.

I have some pretty old Festool catalogs around and I don't remember (I could be wrong) seeing discounts for orders over $500.00. Actually, somewhere around 2003, Festool had a major price reduction - yes, reduction in Fesool USA's list prices. As  I mentioned above in a previous post,  a few years ago, Festool did have a "multi-tool" discount - buy 3 tools, save 10%, buy 5 or more tools and save 15%. Currently all 'discounts" are what's listed earlier - "Other than package deals, seasonal promos, "while suppies last" promos and reduced pricing on discontinued items, there are no other  legitimate discounts on the tools."

Currently, all "package deals" are for the TS saws/MFT/3, most sanders/CT vacs and Kapex/MFT3 Kapex. I agree that an expanded"package", such as an MFT/Router would be something welcomed by many - myself included. Again,  dealers can't substitute/change tools in the listed package discounts.

However, we dealers do have some discretion, as Tom mentioned, (for example, substituting a longer rail for for the TS saw, breaking up boxes of sandpaper, etc.) and I also agree with Tom's assessment regarding Festool's goals - they want the customer to be satisfied, - without that "race to the bottom".

yup, i remember the more you bought, the more you saved days, i was making sure i was not missing out of something. rumors abound. thanks bob for you response.

Maybe there should be a FOG member discount, or at least some promo deal we can get in on... I know I've convinced several people to buy green ("it's good for the environment!" :) and surely the rest of the members have done even more. :)

Just saying...

Maybe you could mail all the "Toolie"s left in the warehouse to Peter to put a new vinyl sticker on like "FOGgie Since _____"
