Is there any cure for Festool addiction???

Hello! I'm new to this forum although I purchased a Domino 2.5 years ago. At the time I thought Festools were all way overpriced but there was nothing else like the Domino out there so I took the plunge and bought the domino & systainer with dominoes & bits. What an AMAZING tool! I think I have used it on every project since then from a big desk to small picture frames (with the 4 mm dominoes). I was convinced that would be my only Festool - but then I saw the RO 90 DX sander  and I was bitten again (purchased my RO 90 from Bob Marino. There was so much bubble wrap that I think a truck could have run over the package and it would have survived!) It just arrived a few days ago and, once again, I am really impressed. The dust collection is incredible and the ability to do anything from rough stock removal to fine sanding to corner sanding is fantastic. Now my Bosch 5" ROS may have to be replaced by either the ETS 150/3 or the RO 150 EQ. I use a Fein Turbo vac but it's an older model without variable suction and now I find myself looking at the Festool dust extractors. I found myself pouring over the Festool catalog and saying "I really could use that"  several times. I think I may be getting addicted. Is there any hope or must I spend the rest of my days saving for another Festool?

I told my wife that if she hears me say "Kapex" slap me and throw cold water on my face. Maybe that will help.

Fesotol Addiction is for sure a non cureable disease..
I have check with numerous doctors for a cure and have been advised it it not curable and apparently not that rare.
If I have to be sick what a way to go  [smile]

Welcome to the FOG and get used to dreaming about this stuff, buying it and always wanting the next thing on the endless list.  Every tool I own of Festool so far is a remarkable piece of engineering and I am happy to spend the money on such great tools.

Yes, I am happy to say that leading researchers have just announced a remedy for OFH (Obsessive Festool Hoarding). It seems that this is a typical immune system type of disease and the solution is one of de-sensitation and tolerance buildup. Studies have conclusively proven that continuous exposure to Festool purchases will eventually lead to sufficient desensitivity that the subject will fall back to the more common, but easily treatable OFCH (Obsessive Festool Consumables Hoarding). Both visa and mastercard have announced treatment programs.

The only thing I could think of is mafel! Mafel might tempt you away from festool addiction but that's your only hope if that don't work then you've had it!

There is no general cure.

But, I am happy to say that, on occasion, some people do find that a non-Festool tool suits their requirements better than the Festool equivalent.  That is encouraging since and indicates that the individual might be a connoisseur rather than an addict.  (In my case, I find the Dowelmax jig suits me better than the Domino tool.)

The Dowelmax may suit your budget better but I fairly sure a Domino would fit your needs much better. [tongue]

Not really.  I have used a Domino that I had on loan in my woodworking shed  for about a week and, although folks here find it hard to accept, I really do prefer using the Dowelmax.

Not quite. What did you mean by item # 5  . What is this OR.  You need an AND to fully cure your addiction [big grin]

Yup, Steve was too humble to include the mandatory Qwas dogs and rail dogs.

There is a cure, or rather "sufficient distraction", called Bridge City Toolworks, although it's a hit of a different kind.

For desensitization training, watch A Clockwork Orange    Even if you bought all the items in the catalog, there's the 'collectables' like the Festool Cooper (dust port or exhaust pipe?).  Okay, I'm shaking, back to the shop...

I tried that - but by the time you get them all unpacked, Festool will have upgraded several.
