Is there any difference between the MFT/3 top, and the 1080 top?

Other than about $50 in price?  I've tried to research all the specs I can on the ancillary sites, and everyone seems to show the same product but with different pricing.

What am I missing?

Well, they're different overall sizes for a start.

I take it you're going to use this to make your own MFT-style table?

The holes are essentially the same: 20mm holes on 96mm centres, however the hole size is very slightly different. I don't know the exact hole dimensions off the top of my head, but the holes in the older MFT800 & 1080 tops are slightly smaller than those on the newer MFT3 (we're talking a couple of tenths of a mm). Not a big deal in most cases, but the 20mm PVC pipe I use for dogs is a nice tight fit in my older 1080-based tables, whereas they fall through the holes on my MFT3-based table.

Thanks Johnny.  I already have an MFT/3, and I was going to use a few of the 1080 tops to act as an extension/outfeed table. If the holes don't line up, however, then it may be worth the extra $50/ea to buy some MFT/3 tops.

can you still buy a replacement top on the 1080 in the USA ?

I'm seeing them for $115/ea at a number of places on the web.

This thread answered a few questions that I had.  The good news is that they just announced a price reduction for the MFT/3 top.  It's only $15 more than the 1080 now.

So does everyone agree that the only differences are the dog holes, hold-down holes, and over-all dimensions?  The material is the same on both?  Actually, I saw a post that suggested that the material on more recent MFT/3's doesn't hold up as well as earlier MFT/3's.  Any input on that?
