Is this a good deal? Or am I crazy?

I am looking at a Craigslist deal for a CT36E, Boom arm (unopened) the 10 m sleeved hose, bluetooth module, extra HEPA filter, and a box of bags for $1,000......Would I be stupid to buy this?  Or stupid not to?  I was going to be purchasing a CT Midi as my shop is small (one car garage) but the deal seems pretty good.  The extractor would rarely be leaving the shop also if that makes any difference.

Any advice or guidance is appreciated, thanks!

This looks like a great deal.  I'm sure you've already priced the components, so you know how much you're getting for the price.

I would just take a good look at the dust extractor to see if it's in good shape.  I would be more in favor of the dust extractor if it was used in a shop vs. out on a jobsite

Great, thanks for the reply.  He says it was purchased in December, and like you said it's a great deal $$ wise....Hopefully it's not too big for my shop!

Sounds even better now that I know it's only three months old.  I'd love to pick up another one myself.

I don't think you'll find it to be to big.  And you'll love the boom arm.

So you want a Midi but are thinking spending 3 times as much is ok because this deal lets you save a few quid on the new price.....

Pass. Get your Midi as planned. You don't need all this.

Yes buy it.
Only started my Festool journey in November when I thought I'd bought a midi on Black Friday, realised I'd never completed the purchase and the midi was gone. Ended up buying the ct36 ac, saw and drywall sander. No regrets.
You'll likely save on bags over it's lifetime due to larger capacity versus the midi.

If ya have a need for those things get them. If not just go with yer Midi

I'm not sure I follow when you say 3 times as much.  The MIDI is $630 before tax, and I'd be getting this for $1000, so not quite seeing the math....almost double, yeah but 3 times I don't quite get.

I would also suggest to go for the CT36.

I have a CT-SYS and a CT26 in a compact one-car garage. Both also not really leaving the shop. If you plan to carry it around, the CT26 is the biggest I would recommend.
I think that is why a lot of folks advise for the midi, great compromise of size vs volume/weight.

But for shop only use, the CT36 ESPECIALLY with the long hose and boom arm would be perfect!
Enough volume to keep working for some time before the bag is full, enough hose-reach to not struggle with the vac parked in one place, trying to cut a longer board a little further out...

Go for it. :)

This is super helpful, thanks for the thoughtful reply!

Sounds like a rare and a very good deal. I wouldn’t hesitate since you’re going to use it stationary. I didn’t know the midi was so much over there.. a boom arm and the sleeved hose are perfect additions to a workshop. You could always sell and change what you don’t like afterwards.

Blimey, seems Festool's price fixing is still full throttle in the US. The Midi can be bought for less then €400 over here, tax included. I bought a used one for 225 two months ago.

Yeah, my bad....I just assumed we are all from the US here, I forgot that this world wide web thing is available everywhere!

I thought like Alex, jeez, that can’t be right.. [blink] a little more here but like €450 including tax
- I did also happen to buy a CT ASA today, pre-owned but never used, also an AS 2,5m 50mm hose. I’ll see if I can make the hose work with my Kapex (a bit heavy that is, the hose..)
