That FS bas looks very nice indeed.

One of the things that I don't understand about Festool is why some of the non-motorized things don't make it to the US. I get UL underwriting and things for the tools, preventing use in the US. But why not the other things, like longer rails, and accessories.

I like the rail and accessories bag (FS-BAG-PA)  [thumbs up]

If it becomes available here, I will probably buy one and retire the rail box that I made 5 or 6 years ago:

The box works well and holds 3 rails and lots of accessories, but the material that I built it of is too heavy.

thats a great case frank. i would keep that one and not worry about the festool version!

Thanks, but it is too heavy.    [thanks]

I have been thinking of making a new one out of lighter material, but if the case from the UK becomes available here and if the price is reasonable, I will probably purchase it and not bother to design and build a new box.

Guys, that bag has got two big thumbs up from me.  But I'm not the guy that decides which products make there way across the pond either.  I've already given my pitch for the bag, maybe it's time to lean a little harder.  Let me see what I can do.

Obviously, UL is an issue with tools in most instances.  Aside from tools and the Centrotec Set (which is being discussed in another thread), what other products have you seen from Festool in Europe that you would like to see here???

CMS with ALL the inserts comes to mind.

That's a given  [cool]

The guide rail bag and blade bag are almost a must have for a remodeler or similar.  Light weight, good storage, yet durable.

I know this sounds wierd but, those hand sanding blocks with dust extraction would be a hit for auto body guys.

I don't know what to think about the deck fastener's.

Drill bit sets for sure.

I'd like to see all non-motorized parts available to the US. For example, I'd really like to have the CS70 clamping element and fence. Last time I checked, it wasn't available to me, here in our "global market"  [wink]

...nice case Frank!!

Hi

For people interested the rail bag is sold at 109.50 GBP and the saw case is 43.80 GBP in the UK.

John

Hope you get the CMS in the US.

I have the 3-VL (the CMS that attaches to the MFT3) . Great bit of kit.

With a TS75 in it, it gives very accurate rips and the finish of the cut rivals workshop saws, it is nearly planned. With a OF 2200 in it you are taking a spindle moulder(shaper)to site . The fence is top drawer.

be careful....if they find out that you want it they will never bring it in. [crying] [mad] there is a certain kind of sadism to it. i have never seen this from another co.  i seem to get wound up on this ever couple of months. [crying] [crying]

So, based on that, you're looking at around $180US.  Can I get some feedback from the group based on that?  I'm not a big fan of the saw blade bag but that would be $72US based on currency conversion rates.

CMS = UL  [tongue]  In fact, each of the inserts (to my understanding) have to be separately tested for UL.  That being said, the guys that came here for the end-user training were shown the CMS.  I think at this point, it's safe to say you guys will see the CMS soon.  I can't offer any specifics on which inserts will be available.  I would agree that the beauty of that system is the versatility made available through the various inserts.

I know that some of the comments made here have been in jest, but the folks at Festool USA have told us time and time again to let them know of what we want.

When we were at the training class they asked us about the imperial centronic dril bits.  Yes there was an indicated demand - but we were a small reference group.  Well they had already looked into the situation and part of the issue was how many they had to have manufactured just to get one set here.  Nobody in business wants to get stuck with unsold inventory.  They talked about the limited time offers of special products.  They kick the ideas around, talk about how well they will sell, and then go thru their decision process.  Sometimes they guess  low because they don't think that an item will sell and they run out early- their example was the Festool Apron in the mini systainer.  Sometimes it goes the other way and they sit on product.  Remember, this stuff comes from overseas and there is considerable transit time involved.

Imagine the process and the gamble if you're talking about having an electrical tool or accessory that needs to be engineered and manufactured differently so as to meet the US market.  The extra costs to engineer, manufacture, have tested, etc. add up.  Throw all the information that they know together, churn out a number that relates to what would be a selling cost - then see how many you have to sell to make a profit.  There are alot of people who visit this forum, but they need to sell to more than just us.

They have asked us Foggers for input.  We should never be afraid to do so.  It doesn't mean that it will happen, but if we don't then it might not because we didn't

Peter

Shane, I would pay up to $200 USA for the rail bag.  I'm not interested in the saw blade bag.

I certainly hope that you are right about the CMS.  We have been talking about it and the Basis System that proceeded it on this forum ever since the forum was born.

Shane,

I would be interested in the rail bag.  But I have a question - I didn't see what length rail it would hold.

The saw blade bag is remarkedly similar to one that I have that was made by Bucket Boss (fiskar) for Duluth Trading.  Based on my organizational technique (the volcano effect) it has not risen to the top in a few years.  I might have to try and dig that one out.  I would not be interested.

My assumption was that it would hold the 1400mm rails.  If it doesn't, I am not interested.

I like the rail bag also.
I got a quick look at the CMS on my recent visit to Festool USA & loved it.

Using the Parallel guides as a reference I would say that it would hold a 55"/1400mm rail.
