I am sure that many have noticed, but we are continuing to steadily grow in membership.  Even better, at least in my mind, is that many of the new members are asking questions.  Better than that - if that could be possible - is that some older members are posting for the first time.

[welcome]      [welcome]

This forum is a place to ask questions, gain and share knowledge, and otherwise just have fun.  If you have a question, don't be afraid to ask.  An idea - please share.

To the visitors out there, why not sign up and become part of the FOG family.  It's free.  We don't require personal information about you - although knowing what geographical part of the world you live in can result in better answers to your questions.  The conduct rules for using the forum are common sense and in line with the Golden Rule.

Hope to see you back soon.  [big grin]

I've noticed that forum activity here seems to go up and down with the seasons. It seems that fall and winter brings more activity here than spring and summer.

But, I certainly note more new names lately. I also note a few familiar names missing, or not as active anymore.

My favorite board here on the FOG is Festool Jigs and Tool Enhancements. I do hope to see more activity in that area soon.

The other thing I Have noticed is a new comradance as we are all moving past the troubles that split the group 16 months ago.  and it shows with new members posting a lot more
Also it is cool the international group here giving different takes on things.

I second that, alot of original thought and great ideas floating around.  I particularly like the customization of systainers, I think a rewardless competition of "what can you systainer" is in order.  [tongue]

Inner welcome to the FOG
how is the weather up there.
Have you figured out a rack system for the systainers yet?
Craig

Warmed up a bit, hovering around 10 degrees centegrade, was going below freezing a few nights.  Seeing as I'm doing a serious renovation and have my furnace disconnected its quickly getting very cold and my ears are getting soar from all the complaining about the ambient temperature being a little lower then usual. [scared]

I've put the rack system on hold since I'm too tied up with work at the moment to play around with my van's layout.  The cubie has been practically a stationary 16 foot warehouse for the past few weeks as all my work has been downtown or more programming related (no big prewires or retros) and I've been working out of my tiny Honda Element.  I'm going to wait for some downtime to play with the racking.

The current shortlist is making custome inserts for my sys3 and sys4 to organize wires exit plates and interconnect cables.  I'm thinking of taking the plunge and ordering a couple tanos sys1 sized sortainers and the big 5 drawer sortainer.  I'm still trying to figure out which systainers will take purchasing priority, whether to get a few caster bases or a vacume bla bla bla...not nearly enough hours in the day or dollars in the bank to do all the wacky ideas I dream up.

Welcome to the FOG Inner10.

Yeah, I've got some ideas for those systainers...but can never seem to get around to them.

And, I am sure glad that it's not that cold here in Pittsburgh yet [attachimg=#].

As Jimmy Buffett might say if he were in this discussion, "It's always Spring or Summer somewhere."  Think about those posters from Oz  [big grin].

For those of you interested in limited statistics of the FOG, if you go to the home page and then scroll down almost to the end, you will see something that looks like this:

[attachimg=#]

You can click on either of the two places indicated by the green arrows and you will come to a page showing general stats.

If you look at the page views notice the growth.  By the way - Matthew wrote long ago that the code had been modified to just show real views - excluded other stuff.  Notice the number of new posts, etc.

To all our friends all over the world - POST WHENEVER YOU WANT!  Seasons don't matter on the internet!

Yeah, it is great.  Don't have any Festool yet, but I have my list (short list but it will do what I need).  So why do I visit?  Found this forum while looking into Festool, read through quite a number of threads.  I found a group that gives, how shall I say, well thought out answers without the bravado that shows up in a lot of forums.  Quite comfortable place I think.

I totally agree, this is a "comfortable" place.

I have looked at other forums but they can get very heated & i am not into that.  Everybody here seems to be really pleasant & that  makes the FOG quite unique.  There was one guy here some time ago, cant remember his name but he would get aggro at the slightest things.  He must have got booted of as all is calm  [big grin]

... the Social scientist perhaps?

+1 here on valuing the FOG.  Comfy.  Informative.  Helpful.  Generous.

On that note, a big public thanks to woodguy7.  Went out of his way to do me a favor, even across the pond.    [thanks]

I haven't heard/read the term "aggro" since I quite Everquest cold turkey 6 years ago... Ha!  Brings back (geeky) memories.

Fairly new to the FOG and I would have to agree, this place is great.  A ton of advice when asked, and even when you don't ask you get it (and it's not bad advice either on both accounts.)

Love the Jigs and enhancments as well.  Hopefully will get to add something in due time...thinking of how to support a guide rail on a tall bookcase faceframe (only 1 1/2 wide) to make it easier to scribe to a wall.

Anyway, gotta love the FOG.

I've just been looking at the stats page, and I think I've spotted an anomaly. Under 'Most time online', the number one is a member called 'ejantny'. He hasn't posted since April 2008, but seems to have been online for nearly 236 days, more than 3x the next member. I can't think that this is correct, I just think he forgot to close his browser one day and it's been on ever since...

This is a nice place, and not too crowded.  With that said, they should probably include a card of sorts with the FOG address inside new tools that people buy.  There's gotta be some Festool owners out there that are not even aware of this site.

Hats off to the admins and mods here while I'm at it. [thumbs up] [not worthy]

Just noticed this topic...

A while ago, I had personal communication with ejantny.  Without getting into his story, let's just say that the stats for his online time are accurate.

Thanks,
Matthew

FOG's a great board.  I have participated in many over the years and all eventually hit some rough ground.  I'm very pleased that FOG has 'got over it' and moved forward.  I think its great that new members are posting more questions.  When I first started with Festool I had a million of them and got some great answers.  I've figured out the basics now, but still every now and then there's a "wow - how cool!" moment.

Thanks Mods for keeping it civil and thanks to Festool for your support, especially Shane.

Yeah where has the topic gone with like only for really good inventions  like that guy made for the circular saw. Has its gone or moved???

If you are asking about the inventions board - it is no longer there.  It was not being used.  The posts by Steve were removed by Steve.  As far as I know, Steve is no longer manufacturing those items and according to a very reliable source is looking towards other future endeavors.

I hope that this helps.
