Anyone used one of these? I am thinking of trying one out.

I have a set of Paslode Impulse guns, but they are to heavy for my hand until I get surgery. It Looks like this could put the weight on my body instead of all in the hand. I have plenty of little pneumatic guns I could use.

I have one...it has been useful...the question is, would I do it again, the answer is probably not. I used it in my own home to finish up some closets and then for several related trimming jobs. I kept having problems getting the pressure to stay up and I was using an 18 gauge brad nailer. I even switched brands to see if that was the problem. No luck. I bought a new cylinder at Lowes or HD.

The problem did not go away. I also had a problem with the o ring. If you are just doing it as a hobby, then you should be pleased.

What's wrong with your hand?

Not serious, juts a big hassle. I have trigger finger in two fingers  on each hand. It is a really simple out patient surgery, but I just have not had it. I have had the injections, but they only worked for a week or so.

My fingers get locked and I literally can not move them unless I take the other hand and snap them back into position. It happens when I have to squeeze tight. A litttle bit of carpel tunnel thrown in to boot.

I got info from a reliable source this unit is not that great and that Lowe's carries a very similar  item of a better quality. I will check it out. I probably would only use it around the house.

Nickao,

Stopped by the local Loew's this afternoon, (carol stream, il)  they had lots of cannisters, but no regulator kits.  Back-order.  I'll keep checking.  If you find one and use it, let us know.  I think I could really put one to use.  Just yesterday I had to lug my compressor to a job just to install a 32" piece of scribe.!!

Price looked OK,  About $85.00 for the kit, (9oz. cannister, regulator, and I believe a hose)  They claim about 3-500 trim shots per 9 oz can.  ( looks like replacements are about $5-6.00 after deposits, etc.)

Thanks, Dan

Lugging the compressor for little jobs like that is exactly why got the Paslode guns years ago.

I saw a nice condition Paslode gun for 49.00. from a festool seller on ebay. I am looking to sell mine too as they are too heavy for my hands now.

I will let you know when I get my hands on the little cannister. At least it will go with all the pneumatic stuff I already have.

I like Paslode, but no 23 pinner yet.  And yes they are too heavy.

Dan get the the "Cobalt" from Lowe's only. That is the only unit I have a recommendation for.

I have been looking at the Grex P635 23 Gauge Headless Pin Nailer.

That's what I looked at today.  backordered, but hopefully will be in soon.  I'll keep you posted.  Even if it's less than hoped for, I've spent a whole lot more for a little disappointment before.  (like a house, cars, retirement $$) but that's another story!!

My perfect tool would be the Grex 23 gauge pin nailer exactly as is, but entirely self contained like the Paslodes, no compressor, etc.

I am sure its not that far off.

I'm with you, brother!!  It's not the compressor so much, it's tripping on that darn hose!!!!

One possible alternative is a very small compressor.  I have the Thomas T635HT.  At 27lbs it's very light.   And it's reasonably quiet.  It will power up to a single framing nailer for light duty framing (4 nails before compressor starts, up to 10 nails at about 1 nail per second).  Recycling is fast.  Comes with a regulator and two gauges - tank pressure and output pressure.

The downside is cost ($309) and you'll still trip over the hose.   But, at least you can use a short hose and drag it from room to room.

Here's some info:http://www.thomasairpac.com/products/airpac/renegade_electric/T-635-HT/T-635HT.jsphttp://www.amazon.com/Thomas-T-635HT-Renegade-Air-Compressor/dp/B000U7UO1I

Not much lighter(every pound does count) than my PC pancake at 31lbs. I just want  something in addition that requires no compressor at all.

I saw this at Lowe's last year with Pops.

Being both compulsive and gadget crazy, it

went in the cart. I dunno what happened, but I started to think.

We own 8 compressors and over 20 guns.

And by golly whats wrong with a Hammer and finishing nail?

You know, like we did it before.

Back on the shelf it went.

It was a proud moment.

Dan,

Thanks, I have been looking at the Thomas for my everyday workhorse.  I know they are rated for continuous use, (even though I just shoot primarily 23 gauge, ) how has it kept up with heavy use?  (you mentioned using a framer)  I'm currently using the Senco 1hp.  It's light in weight, and quiet, but I'm disappointed with the air regulator.  It doesn't seem to recharge consistently.  I don't think it's the individual unit, I've owned 2, and a colleague is also disappointed.

Any thoughts are appreciated,  Dan

Per,

My thumb can't take any more proud moments!!!  Hammers and nail sets don't mix with me well.

Seriously, all my work is pre finished, and if I even look at it wrong, the finish cracks. I need a 23 gauge.

Per already has a Grex though  :)

That gun is so small it just might run off of those tiny CO2 cartridges used in paintball guns.
Anyone know what the psi of those 12g cartridges is?

Yeah,

Sorry, I have 2 grex's and a pc 23 g.

I was considering that rig just for those 5 nail repairs at Mom's house.

But, you jogged my memory Michael,  If any one goes

for this rig.... You can use the big co2 containers for paintball available at

walmart, refillable and about half the price.

The other thing that kind put me off about the system.....

I have enough crap hanging off my body as it is. ;D

Do they have color - coded paint balls?  If I blow a nail shot, can I just shoot it with the same gun??? ;D
