Japanese live edge table

Very nice video.  Among other things, the attachment of the legs to the table top was quite interesting.

I didn't like this video at all. The producer mostly likes to see his own face in the video. I don't, I'd rather see the wood.

I also find nothing special about the entire process shown here and I think a lot of people here on this forum could easily make that same table.

When I read "japanese master craftsman", I really have come to expect a whole other level of mastery.

I think some of the details we all appreciate were glossed over.  Either he wasn’t there to film it or the details were lost on him while he was looking for epic footage and the right light.  Still, I enjoyed watching the leg attachment as well.  And that sander he used to finish the top is terrific.  It won’t fit in my basement though! As for the over dramafication, meh.  It’s the world we live in I guess.  But, it does give some audience out there an appreciation for hand made furniture, and I have to give that a thumbs up, in spite of the delivery.

Incidentally, I showed my wife the video to see if it held any interest with “the commoner”.  She lasted 5 minutes, then asked how long it takes to build one piece, then asked, how can he make any money doing this??  Gave me a chuckle.  That was all she was interested in watching.

Interesting interpretation of the term Live Edge. The Master Woodworker manufactured the edge nothing live about it. Still found it interesting what some consider master level with modern techniques.
