JDS or Laguna 2hp Cyclone/Clear Vue or Oneida?

I need to buy a dust collector for a new Hammer N4400 bandsaw that I am ordering and a Delta DJ20 jointer that I recently acquired. I am looking at the JDS and Laguna 2hp cyclone models. Does anyone have any experience with one of these, or any other suggestions?

Ideally I would like to have an Oneida dust collector, but they are too tall for my basement.

Thanks,

Daniel

While I have the 3HP Cyclone system, it is similar to the 2HP.

I went back and forth between the Laguna vs. the JDS which are virtually identical, and made in the same factory.

I ended up with the JDS due to research that indicated that JDS's QC is a bit more robust than Laguna's on these DC's. There are slight modifications that also lead me to JDS.

All that said, I was VERY pleased with JDS customer service. They are a really friendly company, and I think family owned.  I also purchased their Air-Tech HP filtration unit which I am also extremely pleased with.  Price is just about the same, but I think I remember I got free shipping with JDS.

I do have a number of superb Laguna products, including two bandsaws, so I'm not at all negative on Laguna. I just found JDS's offerings to be a bit more robust on the Cyclones.

My opinion. Others may differ.

Cheers,

Frank

So, if I buy a Clear Vue cyclone and vent the exhaust outside, do I need filters?

If you vent outside, you will be sucking in cold air as it cycles the air......  Just something to consider.

I'm now looking into Clear Vue and Oneida as options. I could vent the Clear Vue outside pretty easy if that would be advisable. I will make some calls tomorrow.

I ended up ordering the Clear Vue CV1800 with filters and electric box. Now I will have the option to use the filters or vent outside.

What exactly was it that tipped the scales to the Clear Vue?

First I narrowed it down to Oneida and Clear Vue, then I read as much as I could about both and decided that either system would be great. http://billpentz.com/woodworking/cyclone/
The Clear Vue was less expensive and I was able to get the $250 electric box at no extra charge. The shipping was pretty reasonable for the Clear Vue over the Oneida. The Clear Vue and Onedia systems are made in the US, which is nice. When I called them today, they were very helpful as well. But like I said, either system would probably be great.
