Hi!

I planning to mount my Festool OF1400 in a table (INCRA) with a Jessem Rout R Lift - Prestige router lift.

Is there anyone who fitted the same Router + Lift and can share their experience

I thought the Festool routers werent supported by any third party lifts.

The prestige is a relatively new model that does work with Festool.

The routers mount to a plate/ring that is lifted rather than a clamping motor carriage which is common to their other models. And pretty much everyone else's.

Very cool! Was not aware of that offering. Thankfully I am more than happy with the tried and true PC 7518 3.25HP motor in an Incra lift with the CleanSweep magnetic inserts! Been awesome!

I live in Europe (Norway), there is unfortunately limited access to "router motors" here, otherwise I would buy a "router motors" and Incra Mast-R-lift II.

Interesting.... I have been in the market for a router lift and this one may have pushed me over the edge.

Just going to say that is a waste in my view.  Using a router motor for 200 dollars will net you the same functionality in a table.  The OF 1400 is such an expensive router table router.  I dropped a large porter cable in my incra table and then I can use the of 1400 for handheld.  Just my .02.

I'm kind of torn. Sure, ideally I'd throw the big PC router in the table and be done...but that $300 would buy me a lot of toys/beer/lap-dances when I don't know how often the inconvenience of task switching between table and hand held would bother me...and then I think I'm probably being penny smart and dollar foolish which is why I haven't bought anything yet.

I agree. Plus 1400 in that lift must be in fully plunged position at all time. You don't want to leave it like that for long.

That is probably enough of a reason to skip this option. Thanks!

It's  just not a router for a router table. It make's little sense.

For me NONE of the Festool routers are table routers, I don't care if Festool makes a table for one.

My Milwaukee 5625-20 which is 10 years old is a better router in a table than any current Festool router. For 309.00(269.00 on sale every blue moon) that Milwaukee is a heck of a router for a table.

Same here. Id rather have a big, powerful, tried and true Porter Cable 7518 3.25HP motor permanently mounted in an Incra lift with all the other accessories any day for the same price or less as an OF 1400. My OF 1010 and OF 1400 are for hand use only and I have the PC and Incra setup. Now, if you are a mobile worker, its an entirely different story.

Yep. I concur. The Milwaukee 5625 is powerful, quiet, smooth as far as vibration free, and well-built.  I sold my Dewalt and PC when I tried the Milwaukee.

Remounting the router in the table would bother anyone each time it wasn't mounted when you needed it in the table. Then, if it was mounted in the table and you wanted to do a quick handheld operation, it would again bother you.

If I did not have a similar router to a 1400 I would probably have a 1400. Any they seem to have a good reputation as a hand router.

In a table something is to be said for power the fancy attachments etc seem like waste, so I would stuff in a PC, triton etc.

i am not saying not to get the 1400... You probably (or may) need both, but a nice table setup deserves its own router if it gets used a lot. Then you can use the 1400 solely where it excels.

OK, perhaps I'm being dumb here, but why would anyone buy a Jessem Router Lift ($350?) when a $300 Triton TRA001 router has "through the table height" adjustment, automatic spindle lock and no loss of depth of cut?

I agree the OF1400 router is a fine bit of kit (I have one) but nothing would persuade me to put it in a table where the spindle lock and height adjustment are so awkward.

Am I missing something?

I find the height adjustment on my Incra lift to be much more accurate even if the Triton router can do above table height adjustment also. I own a Triton. Great handheld router but can't compare to the OF1400 especially for dust collection and setup for handheld routing. Wouldn't use the OF1400 in a table either.

The height adjustment accuracy isn't great (I think it's 2mm per turn) but adequate for my needs.  If I need high accuracy I'll back it down and then raise it again to the new height.

And I agree, the dust collection on the Triton isn't a patch of that of the OF1400.

What would you recommend to go in a lift?

Andrew
