I use the JessEM stock guides as a stock block for cross cutting with the miter gauge. This afternoon, I found another use of it: As a stop block for ripping stopped cuts. As an extra ounce of caution since I used the idea for the first time, I put a shim in the guide to lock down the roller.

I’ve been eyeballing a set of these for a while.  I never considered this, but now have another reason to pull the trigger!

Muttley,

I also use the Stock Guides to rip narrow stock even when the blade guard is mounted in place. Just use a spacer as an aux. fence which is held down by the Stock Guides:

I can rip even 1" wide stock with no issues, using a 1/8" thick push shoe. My SawStop blade guard (for protection and max dust collection) stays on the saw unless I resaw, use the crosscut sled or aux. tall fence, or rip 1/8" inlay strips with a hold-down jig.
