Jet 20" Planer Set Up

I'm receiving a Jet 20" planer next week and am interested in experiences that others have had uncrating, moving and setting this machine up.  I've also purchased a Portamate 3500 mobile base for this planer.  Lift-gate delivery is provided but can only get to within  16' of the work shop door, which is 6" above the delivery level.  My current plan is build a 16'x 4'x6" platform to receive the delivery and provide a runway through the entrance.  Getting the planer on to the base is the problem.  Crating (I've read) is set on a pallet and the machine has lift bars mounted just below the tables.  I'm thinking the procedure will be 1) Set the crated machine at the end of the runway, 2) Open crate and remove whatever is easy (tables, etc), 3) Somehow raise the machine off the pallet using the lift bars, 4) Slide the mobile base under, 5) Lower the machine and glide away.  Spec say shipping weight 840lbs, assembled planer 640 lbs, I'm guessing the stripped down machine (w/o tables) on the mobile base will be about 600 lbs.

Comments ? Suggestions ?

Rent portable engine crane, you'll be able to roll the crane with the weight on it.

If you have the structure above, sling and chain fall or come-a-long.

If you have mason/pipe scaffold, you can make a gantry crane by bridging to frames with beam, sling, chain fall or come-a-long.

Damm, why didn't I think of that !  I've got scaffolding with wheels.  Thanks Tom.

In Oz that would be a four of your biggest buddies and a case of beer (maybe 2 cases) job.

I don't know what a case of beer cost in Aus, but it might be cheeper to rent an engine crane.
