Jet Parallel Clamps 50% Off at Woodcraft (11/28-12/1), Mini T-Loc 40% Off

I'm not a fan of the jet clamps. After only a few years' use, one of my clamp heads doesn't bite on the rail any more, rendering it useless. The end of one handle fell off and won't stay in place- not a big deal but then again it demonstrates their overall quality. Finally the face of some of the clamp heads are not flat.

I had a couple of them that were given to me. They were so bad that I've since thrown them out...

For what it's worth, I have some Bessey clamps that are over 20 years old, they still work as well today as the day I bought them. I had some of the Jets, when they first came to market in my area, I got about a year out of them ( maybe a bad batch ).  I like the Revo's better than my older one only because of the handles are easier for me to grip. And as for the Bessey's not staying in one place, I agree with you, thats why I started using  the Irwin's quick clamps for roughing the work together than the Bessey's to finish. I know it's an extra step, but I work alone most of the time and I have issues with my hands that make it hard to do it otherwise. The statement holds true "you get what you pay for", at lest most of the time. B

That's funny I use the Irwin quick clamps in conjunction with the Bessey as well but use them to clamp the bar so that the sliding jaw won't collapse and break itself or damage my work. Truly ridiculous. Perhaps every Bessey should ship with an Irwin Quick Clamp to make them work properly.

I think maybe if you have a large shop the issue of clamping vertically doesn't come up as much. But I don't have the room to lay everything down flat. So for me it is a deal breaker.

My sense of the opinion of Jet on this board is quite different from anywhere else I have found. Elsewhere opinion seems to either slightly or decidedly favor Jet. Wood Magazine also favored the Jets over the Jorgensen and Bessey.

I've been waiting literally years for a great deal on the Jets so I could stop from using my Besseys. Hope I won't be disappointed. But at this sale price I could craigslist the Jets and make money on them.

Well they are comparable in price normally, not counting the cost of the Irwin Quick Clamp needed with the Bessey. :)

Well Guys,

Thanks for all the feed back.

I went downstairs last night, and tried again. (Really wanted to like the Jet...). It's a side by side compare, Jet vs. Jorgy:

Jorgensen was a smooth one hand operation, Jet was both hands with pushing and shaking...

(6) of the 40" Jets will be returned to the store tonight.

Just found out Menards having a sale for Jorgensen, $30 for a 48", $27 for a 36" and $23 for a 24", I guess they will get my refund money from the Jet tonight.

Menards price is half of the Jet price on Amazon!

Just a heads up to those of you who ordered from International Tool.  If you haven't got your clamps yet, it seems they sold more than they thought and they are waiting to hear back from Jet.  I ordered some of the 12" clamps and never heard back so I just called them.  They also said they sold over 2,000 clamps and their website crashed for a while.

I received an email reply from International Tools saying that they are oversold and were trying to work something out. The bad deal for me was after I place an order I went to my local tool store and they had a ton of the Jet clamps from 12"- 82" all on sale for half off. I was running out of time and had to get to work so I left without buying any. I had decided that I probably should go back and get a few more after work. When I got there they were locking the doors. I thought that they closed at 3:30, but they closed at 3:00 and I was 5 minutes too late. I was bumed but I figured that I at least had the 8 - 12" clamps coming from International Tools, but now that looks like it will fall through. I shouldn't be so indecisive  [doh]

Did anyone else order from Tool Orbit?  If so, have you heard anything from them?

I just got this email from International Tool:

"RE: Your Jet Clamp Order

Dear Valued Customer,
Unfortunately, due to the huge volume of sales, the Jet clamps you ordered have been oversold, and at this time, we do not have a definite shipping date for them. However, we have completed negotiations with Jet to resolve the inventory issues and will be able to fulfil all clamp orders, at the sale price. As they are currently on factory back order with Jet, shipping times will be dependent on when they become available from them.
As soon as we have more information about the shipping date, we will forward that to you.
We strive to keep all our customers satisfied, and we appreciate your patience in this matter and apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused.
Sincerely,
International Tool Sales Team

I received the same email, it looks like we have some hope!  [thumbs up]

Better late then never. This happened last year. It took almost two months to get the clams.

I received my clamps from Woodcraft tonight. I wouldn't say they are silky smooth but I am not super picky about that aspect. I did notice the clamp's movement is dependent on where you apply pressure when moving the hand screw. Overall I am happy with them. Especially on the $$ saved.

Bump on my previous question about Tool Orbit.  I got the email from Int'l but I haven't received anything from TO and they haven't replied to my emails.

I don't know anything about them, but have you tried calling them with your order number?  Their number is on the website and they also seem to have live chat on their website.  Maybe that will help.

FWIW, I just spoke to the people at International Tool and they said they got a shipment in of some of the back-ordered clamps.  I didn't ask about all the sizes, but it looks like the 12 inch clamps I ordered were in this shipment.  They are trying to get them out today.

Just a heads up.

If any of you ordered Jet Clamps during the 50% sale from International Tool, and haven't gotten them yet, I have an update.  I just spoke with them about mine and they say a delivery is expected today from Jet of 10 pallets with the remaining clamp orders.

Since several months have passed my original PayPal payment was no longer valid (I think I placed the order on November 28th), so I had to update the payment with a credit card.

You pre paid with Paypal?  Might want to check this, would not want to pay twice!
