I'm looking to get a drum sander and possibly an edge machine as well.

The Jet 22-44 OSC seems an obvious choice for a drum sander. I'm also looking at potentially getting a Jet OES-80 edge sander but not so sure on this one as it looks a bit more hobbyist than the 22-44 in terms of build.

They UK prices are about £1,650 for the drum and £800 for the edge sanders here in the UK which is about the limit of my budget.

I know there have been comments in the past on the FOG on the Jet drum sander but these are quite old now and wondered if any surprises had come up since with this machine. I've found little on the edge sander other than a few vids on Youtube.

Can anyone advise on the quality of these machines from use or recommend alternatives?

My intended use is varied.

All advice appreciated.

Hi Shed9,

I have had the  Jet 22-44 OSC for a few years now and have no problems with it since. I use it every week and really enjoy the OSC feature when it comes to woods like Bubinga where it would just burn up if you didn't use the the OSC feature. I cant speak for the edge sander though.

Thanks for the response, I'm pretty much convinced on the OSC but this all goes to re-affirm this. I never thought about situations where the oscillating feature would be crucial and not just a benefit.

Did you ever  purchase  the  OSC  Shed?

I'm considering a drum sander  and there seems  to be  different opinions  on the capabilities.

Purchased a  CLEANTEC CTL 26 AC  and a  Rotex 150  today instead.
Very impressed  so far.

Turned down  low  I  could see no dust  forming  as I sanded oak  planks.
