Does anyone happen to have both a Bosch Barrel-Grip jigsaw and Festool's equivalent?

I have the Bosch without something to store it in.  I was thinking I could get the Festool Systainer, with insert, for their barrel-grip jigsaw if it, my Bosch, would fit.

Thanks.

I just measured my systainer 1 and the inside clear dimensions would be a little more than 3" x 15 1/4" x 11 1/4".  If you get the foam inserts I bet should still work.

If you get a systainer 2 it would work for sure.

I'm saving that idea as a backup.

I would prefer to use the actual insert since it's already formed to the barrel grip jigsaw.

I have both the Festool and Bosch barrel grip jigsaws. I recently purchased the 5 drawer Systainer from Japan Woodworker. It is the 4 drawer with an extra large drawer on the bottom. It works great. I don't have the drawer inserts to house the jigsaws - just use thin drawer rubber liner in the bottom. I now have everything jigsaw related in one storage device that is portable when needed.

I think what Gary is asking is if somebody would put a Bosch barrel grip jigsaw in a Festool jigsaw Systainer and see how it fits.

Which jigsaw model is it Gary?

Tom

My bosch jigsaw doesn't fit in the festool plastic moulding in the systainer, but it is a fairly old (+/- 10 years) European model so that might or might not be relevant. (Model GST 100CE)  It is taller than the Festool one.  The easy solution it the systainer with foam inserts as someone else mentioned.

Duh...  I should have thought of that.  ???

1586AVS.

Thanks for asking.

I don't have the bosch jigsaw, but I did handle it in the store, and the body is bulkier than that of the festool trion, so I don't think it will fit the insert.

In Europe bosch, and makita aswell, are starting to sell more and more of their tools in systainers link to jigsaw So it might be possible you can order the bosch systainer soon.

Now that is an interesting solution.  Sure would make identifying the Bosch jig saw in my wall of Systainers much easier.  ::)

Unfortunately for now it's only a european thing... I recently had my Fastenal guy rough up the Bosch rep, I've sent emails to Bosch myself, all to no avail... I guess operations in Germany are separate from the N American operations, so even with something as silly as a plastic box, there are just some parts that can't be ordered here. Shame, too... I was hoping I could get my hands on the Bosch sys 1 to hold the 10.8 litheon drill and impact set. But, no love. Not from Bosch, anyway. The Fastenal guy now thinks I'm nuts for making such a fuss over a plastic box, but we get along anyway.

I did manage to find a Bosch sys2 for my jigsaw, and cut an insert out of some rigid foam. It's not ideal, but it works for now.

I may be forced along those lines myself if no one on the FOG has both to test the fit of their Festool jigsaw's systainer with their Bosch.

Kinda makes sense that not many have both.  If one has the Festool jigsaw, why would they need a Bosch variant as well.

I think holtzhacker has both.  I think at the training class he said he uses the bosch for demo stuff and the festool for other applications.

I have D-handle versions of both. Bosch seems to have more power, and once I get my hands on the dust collection attachment, I have a lot of faith that the Bosch will work better in that area, too.

I do like the Fes jigsaw's zero-clearance inserts, and the plug-it option, but sooner or later, common sense may have to take hold, and one of the two may have to shuffle off to eBay.

Or maybe not. It's hard to let go of good tools.

My Bosch has zero clearance inserts  - perhaps not as good as the Festool, but I still prefer it to the Festool as it seems to wander less.

I use the exact same setup, it works very well. The saw+plug it cable+circle cutter+guide stop+box with splinter guards (i think that's what they are called), in the big drawer and blades in the 4 top drawers (actually 2 small and 1 large). It would have been even better with 2 rows with small drawers....I have lots of blades:)

;D Well there is plenty of room for blades in the large drawer even with the jigsaw already in there! And like you, I have LOTS of blades. My Systainer is not the Festool but the Tanos I believe. It is identical but has an extra 4" deep drawer. Got mine in the Anthracite dark gray to make it really stand out. Japan Woodworker has tons of new items in their Systainer section that aren't offered in the Festool name.

GreenGA, you need the SYS-VARI-SE set. It's a set of 3 foam inserts for a systainer. A bottom plate, a plate for in the lid and a special plate for in the middle. The middle plate has a pre-cut raster of blocks which you can remove so that you can make a hole to fit your tool.

No idea if its available in the US though.
