I think Peter's comment was also in reference to the "review", which failed to mention the ambassadorship. This is a minimum standard disclaimer in most circles, usually in the form of "disclaimer: such-and-such company paid for our hotel and flight to visit their factory and review this product" or "disclaimer: this was a gift from such-and-such company and I was not required to return it when I was done", or "disclaimer: I pay for all of my own tools and am not sponsored by any company".
For JLC and the author to completely leave it out runs the risk of violating not only standards and practices, but also potentially laws in some places.
