JLC Providence - Festool Connect 2013 - March 21st

i was really bummed that I missed JLC and especially festool fest.... I would have really really really be bummed when Norm Abrams shows up on the live broadcast but i was lucky to have been  Calif on a 1 week trip when he was at the Rockler Store in Anaheim Ca and personally got to meet im and chat and he wanted a picture of me with him... so here it is !!!

Wow, what a show. I've wanted to go to JLC for about 14 years. Being involved in the retail industry has made it hard to attend, so this was my first. Man what a great year to have picked for my "first time". Festool connect was awesome. Got some great info on newly released items and then got to find out all about the soon to be released Festool toys. Then we all got surprised at the end of the day with Norm (nuff said,no need for last name here). I started watching him when I was about 8 years old on Saturday mornings on PBS. I had met him about twelve years earlier at the Woodworkers Warehouse store managers Xmas party when he spoke. It was a true honor to meet him again. I of coarse didn't have such a sweet beard back then......... The best part of the day though was getting to interact with all of our great Festool internet/phone customers. We also got to meet and interact with a lot of other Festool "Nuts". Looking forward to next year's Festool connect. Let's see how they top this!

My first Festool Connect event as well but most definitely NOT my last! I haven't personally been to JLC live in about a decade - the show was great as usual, but the Connect event was worth the price of admission (get it......get it......). It's great to meet great people and put some faces behind a name. Thanks to Festool for putting it together and to all that attended!

All this over a sock cap?

It is the best sock cap ever. It actually makes your brain work Faster, Easier, Smarter.   [scratch chin]  [big grin]

I also understand it is excellent for covering up head injuries.  [wink]  For those times you forget a hard hat.  [blink]

Seth

I heard a reference to a guy by the name of Gash who might have been at the Festool booth.  Hopefully for him there will be a Kevlar version in the future.  [big grin] [poke]

Don't ask, I will not tell.

Peter   did we ever find out how Gash got the gash in the first place. [wink]

Sal

I did, but in an effort to protect the innocent - my lips are sealed.  [big grin]

Pleasure hanging with so many of you this past week.

A little sneak peek of what went down at Connect, JLC and State of the Industry.

More full length videos with all the action coming soon.

That was a cool video!  I watched it eighteen times already.  Only got home a week ago and I am already in withdrawal.

Hi Shane,

Plus ONE what Peter H said! My cunning plan for Thursday 21 March was to be at my office well before 6:30 A.M. in Burbank to watch every second of Connect Live. All of us had worked late for three days so we were ahead of schedule on all projects being built. One computer was feeding a digital projector in our showroom=meeting space where we had arranged comfy chairs.

Then pesky clients started needing attention. Once by one we would have to leave the pleasure of seeing Connect Live in real time. At one point I actually had to leave the shop for over an hour. At least I did get to see almost all of Brian 'Curly the Sedge' Sedgeley demonstrating the CMS and when I finally got back to my comfy chair Norm Abrams was there.

So, not that you have teased us with the video preview of the edited material, when exactly can we expect the remaining material to go on-line?

The full length video will be posted as soon as possible but I don't have a specific date. It's being edited down into more consumable segment sizes.

Way cool, Shane,

I have faith when ready you will let us know here on The FOG. I look forward to seeing that which I missed and being able to re-watch my favorite segments.

Great video!
I was able to catch most of Mr. Sedgeley's presentation on the day, but I missed the others so I am dying to see what ever you have.
