I know that John Lucas has been honored by many of us in a separate thread and I think that is wonderful.  He has truly been an irreplaceable force in this forum.  He has always taken the time to add his valuable input to help all of us.

My wish is that he be memorialized here in someway.  Maybe we could setup a topic heading with his tips and techniques.  I would welcome any other ideas someone might have but I sure would like us to do something to honor this fine gentlemen.

I wonder what will happen to his web site info? Would it be possible for this forum to import his pages related to Festool equipment? Obviously this would require approval by John's family. If that could be combined with his posts here, we would have a permanent reference source available. Kind of thinking that all his valuable info might disappear from the web. I know this could be a lot of work ahd his pages probably are not compatible with this sites software. Just a thought that would preserve information and also work as a long term memorial. They may do this over at SawMill Creek as he was active there as well.

Neill,

This is a nice thread to have opened; thank you.

I wonder if it would be possible to set up a way for members to buy his DVD through the FOG, with his wife's approval of course. I imagine that would open up quite a large stream of people keen to purchase his wonderful advice; might be a nice way to remember him and to show our respect to his family.  Just an idea.

Rick,

According to the Woodshopdemo website, the DVD's will be available until the current batch sells out.

So I gather, Peter...I just wondered if it would be possible for the FOG to come to an arrangement with John's wife to produce more DVDs after that batch ran out if there was a demand from the members.  Just thinking out loud.

Cheers,
Rick

Mac, I agree. I was also thinking of an appropriate way to honor this fine mentor to many of us; could we name him a "Mentor Emeritus"?
