I've been searching for a way to join 27mm DC hoses end-to-end to facilitate cleaning up my shop without having to drag the CT22 around with the boom arm attached. There have been suggestions regarding replacing the tool end with a second DC end and using the Festool sleeve to make it happen. Two issues with that (in my book) are (1) that there's a large object that can catch on things as I move about the shop, and (2) that the large end needs to be removed when using the first hose with a tool. Neither was acceptable, and apparently Festool doesn't supply a smaller sleeve. I had occasion to stop by my plumbing supplier recently and rooted around in his parts bins for a solution that was conductive so that the static reduction function would remain in effect to the end of the connected hoses. What I came up with is so incredibly simple. It entails replacing the DC end of the second hose with a tool end reducing sleeve (Product No. 487071, $19.00) and using a 1-1/4" copper pipe connector. It's a very snug fit and not likely to easily slip apart during shop clean-up. Here are a couple of photos to illustrate.
