Long term will the weight of the 1400 effect the edging plate and angle arm, I don't know.

When I say weight is one reason it's not recommended, I think it's more from a control perspective.  Just being able to handle and manage a router the size of the 1400 in that horizontal position.  I don't think there's any concern about effects on the plate or arm.

Brice,

What do you use for the 1400 when doing horizontal routing?  Anyone else?

Chuck, generally, I don't use the 1400 with the edge routing accessories (since I have both the 1010 and MFK) but I know it works because I've done it a couple of times.

No question the setup is easier to use with the 1010 but certainly well within the "doable" range with the 1400. [2cents]

Having been to two Festool classes and had a great time  [thanks], perhaps it is time to consider a "Camp Festool," two week, 12-step program for tool junkies with lots of honeydoo projects.  Hardwood not included.  [eek]  Barbeque and cameraderie every evening  [drooling], rotating BBQ chefs with a prize for the best meal at the end (Festool gift certificate).

Bring your own trailer to haul home your creations.  [thumbs up]

sounds good to me wonderwino..... I can make some beadboard serving trays for all of us to eat our great meals off of!

we can have ribs one night and cut them up with the Kapex, theirs of course....... and use the rotex to really rub the spices into the slab!

The new vacuum clamp could hold the briseket while you carve it!  [scared]  [big grin]
