Bill, I agree about the Domino. Of all the tools I have used it is the one that just feels like a magic maker. Every time I use it I step back and think, "How cool is that?"
 
my guess is that breaking a cabinet into 20 pieces is not a project as envisaged by this forum

its called demolition

but if you put in an exhibition you could win the "trash art" prize

You know, that's not a bad idea...a "best demolition project" category or something along those lines!  I know I've been using the RAS 115 to wipe out old paint all over my circa 1915 house (click here to see what I mean).  Not too elegant, but it does involve Festool and it is hard work.

all of my work seems to fall under demolition. every time I get done, I think "poor tree"  ;D

Everyone,
We're approaching the half-way mark of the month, and the judges are still discussing the projects on the list.

It has been proposed that Charles Wilson's Media Cabinet be added to the list.  I wonder what other members think about this.

Also, for those of you whose projects appear on this month's "short list," please tell us if you are going to add some more detail on the building process (hint hint).  That's what the contest is all about!

I'm going to try to make time to take better pictures of the big humi this weekend. With having to care for my father my extra time is limited. Incra wants better pics for their gallery too, So I'll do what I can. If I don't have the opportunity to get better pics I'll at least do a better write up on the projects. Thanks for the heads up.
 
I guess that my ring toss game (http://festoolownersgroup.com/index.php?topic=3854.0) would 1quilify as a small project and I did use lots of Festool tools to make it.  But, I certainly would not expect it to win.

I maybe looking for too much in this contest.

To me this contest is about getting the most from your Festools, coming up with genius techniques that cant be done with any other tool, and good/excellent woodworking made better with the Festool tools. I think this needs to be communicated to the contestants.

If this were any other woodworking contest Bill Wyco would win every month. To me, how the project came to be is more important than the outcome. the Festool journey.

I know this puts contestants with only a sander at a disadvantage but if you have a saw or router you can do some incredible things.

You are correct again!  It would be nice for Jesse, and the other contestants, to add some process notes about how they used their Festool tools to make their projects.  I understand that people cannot always recreate the process with photos.  But some text explaining how you used Festool tools is great.  As Eiji says, the whole idea behind this contest is inspiring people to see new ways to use Festool tools.  The projects should make people say, "Hey, I want to use ______ tool to make a project like that!"

Thank you very much for the compliment Eiji. I think there are some very talented people here as well and some very unique ideas too.
 
Mathew, I took your advice and went back and modified my post on the smaller Humidor. I did that one because it was built using Festools from the beginning. I wish I had more pictures but this one is gone to Phoenix now. I'm going to try to make time to take better pics of the big one if I can. It'll still be a month or 2 before my dad can get around on his own. My wood shop is crying right now. :'( What really sucks is that I just got my hands on some beautiful new figured woods and can't even look at it. :( I'll have to take pics. Oh well, I actually enjoy the time with my dad, i just wish he wasn't in pain.

Thanks for adding that level of detail!  It really helps, not just with the contest but in general as a way of illuminating your project.
You need to attend to some more important matters right now, so don't worry about this.  Please report back to us about your father.

I'm not sure how to do a link ??? but it's the one towards the top of member projects. I updated the origonal post so it's at the beginning of the post instead of being the last post. It's kind of wordy, sorry ;D

AND THE WINNER IS...

This month, the judges spent a lot of time going back and forth and debating on who the winner should be.  There are a lot of great projects on this forum, each one with its particular strenghs.  But in the end, we chose...

Bill Wyko's "Dowel-it and Domino" Project.

Bill will receive his choice of an ETS 150/5 or 150/3 sander from Festool!
