JUNE 2008: ETS 150/5 or 150/3 Sander

WOW ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D Thank you very, very much.  ;D ;D I've been holding my breath for days :D There's some very stiff competition out there. I will get a lot of use from this. Again, thanks very much. :D

Way to go, Bill. Well deserved, I must say. Keep up the amazing work! If you can make DD be interested in wood turning, you've done something special!

Thanks Poto. Segmented turning is highly addictive and the possibilities are endless. I think I like it so much because I get to use so many different exotic woods. You aught to try it some time. ;D

I think I'll stick with my segmented furniture-building for now :D  Besides - I don't have a lathe, or the space to put one... Thanks for the suggestion and support, though.

Congrats Bill!!! You are a very deserving winner. Your work is exceptional!

Dan Clermont

I appreceiate it Dan. If I can ever be of any help to you guys, please don't hesitate to ask.

Congratulations Bill! Amazing piece of art. Another jewel was that small parts holding jig for the domino. You really are talented and you probably havent even stratched the surface yet.

Eiji Fuller

Great work Bill and congratulations. BTW, you had some pretty stiff competition from some guy with a humidor. Enjoy the sander.

AND THE WINNER IS...

This month, the judges spent a lot of time going back and forth and debating on who the winner should be.

Yah.  Sure.  ::)

As if any of us others had a chance once Bill posted his work....  ;D

Thank you all for your kind words. There really is some great talent here. If any of you have an incra router table and a few Festools, I'll be glad to help you attempt a a double, double box joint box. I've been making a little progress on my latest project. When it's done, there will be a very detailed assembly procedure with pictures. It should make it very easy to try one. I'll even include my secrets to perfect DT uniformity from one drawer to another. ;) I really like to see people try these. It's very fun.

Bill's work is incredible, Tim, but us judges were really hoping someone would step forward with an Eiji type offering with all that great documentation. Bill did a good job filling in after the fact and that was important to us. Creative use of the Domino and special jigging along with lots of photos were more important than the fact the vase was gorgeous.

Congratulations Bill!  You definitely deserved to win with all your well-crafted projects.

Tom.

Well deserved win Bill, you produce amazing work. I think this guy was pulling for the humidor to win though.

I really do appreciate the compliments guys. My next project is getting PLENTY of documentation. It may take me a few months to build it but I'll have a pic of every step. It quite possibly will require every Festool I have. It's a jewelry box for the LOML and boy is she picky. :-\ I'll throw out some tease pics once in a while as it starts to look like something other than a bunch of nice wood leaned up against a wall. ;D

Just out of curiousity - is Bill allowed to win all the contests?  ;)

On the outside chance that I were lucky enough to win 2 times in  a row, I would remove myself for the following month. I don't know if I'm that lucky though........but I don't even have a jig saw at my shop at home so I have to at least try. ;D ;D ;D ;) I know all of you can win this, don't play possum with me. ;) ;D

I was just curious if the sander shipped yet? I just want to be sure United Partial Service didn't regulate it. I had them loose a 140lb amplifier in a wooden crate a table saw would fit in once. Good thing I insured it. ;)

A little update. It's like goldielox and the 3 bears. The ETS150 is juuussst right. I find myself using this sander more than the ETS125 or the ROS150. Thanks again. :)
