I decided to get a couple of these so I could have a closer look at them & do a review. The review will (hopefully) follow in a few days, but in the meantime thought I'd just share a few pictures.

Thanks to FFX for the quick delivery - I ordered them on Monday evening on a 5 day lead time, and they arrived this morning:

Each drawer is packed in a brown cardboard box:

The drawer has the option of fitting a lock:

[attachimg=5]

The latch mechanism is not built in to the runners, it's basically just a plastic flap that engages in an additional plastic piece that fits under the runner on the left hand side. The lock simply stops that tab being lifted:

The runners are good quality, full extension, and finished in dark brown. The drawer simply attaches to the runners with 2 metal tabs on either side:

My initial impressions are that they feel just slightly flimsy, but once installed I can see that being rectified. I'm disappointed that the latching mechanism isn't built in to the runners, it's just a very basic plastic latch. It will stop the drawer coming open when moving a sysport around, but it isn't overly strong. The lock (which I haven't got) seems like it would have limited use - it'd be useful to stop small kids prying, but it wouldn't keep a thief out - it's nowhere near as secure as the locking mechanism on the full metal sysports, but then again I guess that on a plastic drawer it's not going to be.

I like that it has the same card/label holder in the front as the T-locs have, I hadn't noticed that in the pictures.

At the full UK retail of £36.72 inc. VAT per drawer I thing they're a little pricey, but if you shop around you can get £10 off that price which makes them not too bad.

As I said at the beginning I'm planning to do a full review in a few days time, including mounting them into a cabinet. If anyone has any questions about these, or has anything they'd like me to address in the full review, then please let me know here.

Jonathan

So ... what are your thoughts if you dropped an OF2200 systainer from 150mm into the drawer? ... Would it survive? They certainly look less solid in your shots - the press shots were possibly a bit "kind".

Good of you to take the plunge to trial them - I appreciate that. [thumbs up] [big grin]

Why would you want to drop a systainer in from that height? I can try it if you want - I don't have an OF2200 though, but please feel free to send me one. On second thoughts that'd take too long - just order one from a UK dealer & have them ship it to me.  [big grin]

OF2200's in the mail [big grin]

I wouldn't do it on purpose, just thinking of a worst case kinda mishap ... possibly misjudging whee your draw was .. [sad]

A sysport would cope with that, plastic .. I doubt. Wood, you could just repair. (Yeh, you can always just but another drawer too I suppose).

Also interested to see your full review on these.

They do look a lot more flimsy in your pics like you say.

They are sold as a single drawer (500692) or in packs of five (500767). The latter is £173.28 inc. VAT at retail, but again shopping around gives quite a saving over that, with the additional pack saving too. Depending on where you get them from, that makes them around the £23 each price for the packs which isn't *too* bad.

Seems like it would have made more sense to package them in an even number like four or six instead of five.

I suspect it's because the SysPort 1000 is sold with five drawers.

No matter what size the made the package, there would be people who want more, less, an even number, etc. That's why they're available in singles.  [wink]

Five for the multipack is just fine but I need like 25 of the them to even cover my current systainers much less to plan for the future [scared]  [doh]

I wonder are they strong enough to have two sys1-sorts on top on each other on one shelf loaded with screws? Haven't weighed them, but I highly doubt they would be more than 10kg each.

Are the drawers supplied with the Sys-Port 1000 also sold as singles? (Telescopic drawer
SYS-PORT/TA/2) and if so how much are they?

Yes, at $125 each USD (ouch!)

OK so now I'm more interested in the SYS-AZ Drawers, when are we getting them in North America?

It's 'cause Festool doesn't like us. Perhaps something dating back to the 1940's?
