Hi all,

I bought the DF500 earlier and now looking at which dust collection to buy (didn't know I needed it but from reading forums/looking at YouTube videos, I need one). Shame I didn't do this before spending £749  [scared]

I have been looking at the CTL26 and noticed some have the "cleantec" logo and others have the "cleantex" logo. Could someone please help with what the differences are? Also, any advice on whether to go for this model at all over another would be much appreciated.

Thank you [smile]

Not sure if you have the promo over there in Europe, but "return" the tool and buy it with a CTL26, you'll get some money off buying it as a combo I think.  At least that's how they do it here in the USA.

Don't buy the Autoclean one as that is for the Planex sander.  But depending on your usage, etc.  CTL26 is probably the most popular.  Buy the 36 or 48 if you want a bigger vac.  Bigger...less mobile, heavier, bags cost more.  Etc.  Festool vac is the way to go!

I could be wrong, but I thought the Cleantec was the older term (like with the CT17, 22, etc), and the Cleantex the newer.  It's just a trademark as far as I can tell.  There is only one version of the current vacs (outside the Autoclean option on the 36), so you'll be fine just getting the 26 they have in stock.

Domino 700XL also works fine with a CTL-SYS and the bag is (small) big enough for a lot of mortices, so that one should work for a 500 too.

In case you want to expand your tool collection later (but not use the vac for routing as this produces huge amount of debris) a MIDI might also be interesting. In case you use it professionally then CT 26+, maybe you'll need to use a CTM (workplace health regulation reasons).

If you intend to expand your Festool fleet with a large router or Kapex, get a CTL 26. If you are sticking with the Domino, and possibly sanders, then either the Mini or the Midi will be more than adequate. The only difference between those two is the waste bag size and capacity.

I started off 15 odd years ago with the Mini and thanks to the recent £50 off vouchers, invested in a Midi and a CTL26. The CTL 26 is used almost exclusively on the Kapex. The Mini is a general clean-up vac and, as it is the most compact, the carry-to a job choice. The Midi is attached to a home made boom arm and used on my MFT setup.  Both are more than capable of Domino work and up to OF 1400 router work.

The CTL26 is a superb bit of kit and is fleet inflation proof but it is considerably bigger and heavier than the Mini/Midi.
