Recent prices drops for some Festool accessories in Australia have made the peripheral accessories very attractive in terms of price.

Australian prices have gone from $450 + $279 ($729) to $289 + $169 ($458) for the parallel guides ... almost a 40% drop in price.

The other big drop is on the MFS700.

The drops are not consistent across the board and the power tools themselves have mostly remained the same in price - but I suppose this is one small step towards some degree of pricing parity.

Once ya get those do hickies calibrated you'll be loving life doood. It took me a while to figure out that I had to calibrate  the guides before the extensions.

Sounds like common sense huh? But not in my case.

But anyway useing 2 connected 1400 rails I can rip ply parallel with in 1-2mm over the 8 ft (2438 mm).

My rep Alan I thinkor maybe it was in a festool class, but I asked how to keep them from flopping around when not supported/ off the end of a piece of ply. He told me to attach the extensions. I havent tried it yet.

There is a demo today at the local Woodcraft so I will ask the rep when I get there.

Another thing I learned is you really do have to clean up one edge of the ply first it makes a difference.

But now Kev

You are a man above men,  festooler above other festoolers.

Is your wife asking you why your getting a green tint to your skin, mine is, I'd tell her but she woundnt understand….

Yep...the guides are great when calibrated...makes ripping thins strips safer than a tablesaw too.

Roger that scott,

I just left a festool demo day, it had a surprizely large crowd. Most of the folks were talking about "accidents". I fortunately havent had one (major one). Since I discover these green tools, I dont worry to much about those type of accidents to much.

Hi,

I receivd a set of the parallel guides in December as a gift.  Can you please direct me to a source for instruction on calibrating them.

Thank you.

Hey Brian,

I think that you will find this video helpful.  You can also go to YouTube and do a search for Festool Parallel Guides and find some other stuff.  There are three videos that Roger did that are also very informative.
