Just made my first purcahse...

Curious...what state to do you live in?  Does Amazon not charge sales tax for all states?  Also, I like to buy from some of the smaller guys here on the forums.  Amazon makes billions...they're OK.  I'm share holder, but it's fine to spread the wealth.

Thanks for your Amazon purchase.  lol  [big grin]

Check out Bob for your next order he packs the stuff crazy. My MFT I ordered from him did not get damaged.

[Welcome]

You'll need to upgrade to a Festool compatible wife or buy the conversion kit.
Kev that was a good one. Had to show my wife that she s aFestool compatible wife.

Yeah no online sales tax to my particular location, plus free shipping. Shane steered me in the right direction, this is getting taken care of. Can't wait for the replacement to arrive, this is gonna be a blast!

First, [welcome] to the FOG!

Nice choice for starters! I, too, started out with the track saw. I have fallen firmly down the slippery slope...and I predict you will as well.

Assuming you survive, what's the next tool purchase?

First  [welcome] to the FOG. You will find lots of expert advice on how to sneak tools past the wife and excuses to buy them  [big grin]

Sounds like you got a great start. I highly recommend getting a good known true square for squaring your MFT. The woodpeckers 1281 is a nice one.

Now you'll need a few more things but you'll find out on your own and I dont want to be a victim of cost shock while your trying to control your blue and green disorder.

BTW we do have a 12 step program available but it only helps you spend more :>D

Should he not reach out to the selling dealer first?  so they can get compensation from the shipper?

Based on what I have seen here on the FOG, and the level of service from Festool USA, I would say getting in touch with Festool directly would be the way to go.

Based on my 15+ years of worldwide shipping, I say good luck getting any 'compensation' from any shipper! ::)

While I don't disagree with the key points you make, I would bet that Amazon has a bit a leverage.  [big grin]  That being said, as usual Festool has come through making; making people understand why they are the best.

Nice purchase. Hint, get the kitchen started and then "discover" that you need a few more items to complete a given task.  That way the wife can see what she is getting out of this "investment".

This strategy worked well enough for me over 40 years, my wife has new kitchen, bathrooms, actually a remodeled house  including milled hardwood flooring and furniture and I have a full shop with all of the latest "necessary tooling" [wink]

Welcome to the forum!  [smile]

Were you able to  get them from the recon sale?  Have you had a chance to use them?

Let her know who's boss in the man cave (when she's not around at least)
Just tell her you needed it and you don't buy shoes and handbags every week.
That should just about bring 4th of July around to October. All those fireworks to celebrate your new purchase!!!
