Kapex arbor bolt guard

I just cut a piece do plastic door guard (using the aluminum/plastic blade) and a small piece flew up causing blade to stop and what appears to be the inside of the arbor bold guard broke  in the process, at least I think that's what it is, don't see any other damage.  Will call service on Monday.

Question is can the saw be operated without the arbor bolt guard attached?

Never mind, upon further inspection, I see the whole piece needs replacement, so service call Monday.
