Kapex blade problem

I had a scary moment with my Kapex -- offcut got sucked up into the plastic blade cover and jammed the blade while it was running.  After I cleared the jam and double checked everything, the blade -- a Tenyru Mitre Pro -- is producing horribly ragged cuts.  I switched over to the Festool 60T blade to check if it might be a saw issue, but the 60T blade is producing as fine a cut as it always has.

After looking at the Tenyru blade closely, it doesn't look like any of the teeth are chipped, so is it possible the blade has gone out of true?  If so, is this something that can be fixed, or am I out $140?

First off, I'm glad you're alright. That would definitely give a good scare.

Because it's working with w/ the Festool blade, I'd recommend contacting Tenryu. As the manufacturer, they're best qualified to handle issues with the blade. Hopefully they can get a good answer to you.

Thanks for the replies.  It would be one thing if I were doing something stupid on the cut, but it was a straightforward cut I've done thousands of time, with the stock well-secured, so I have no idea why it happened. I guess need to make that zero-clearance fence pronto.

Haha, right.  I feel like it aged me several years and tore some heart muscle in the process, it was that freaking scary.  The only analogous experience I've had was several years ago doing a rip cut on a 4x4 on the table saw.  I didn't see that the wood was slightly twisted, and so when it got to that point and began to come off the fence, it caught the blade and both the wood and the now bent metal insert plate came flying out back at me.  Luckily it missed my face, as there was not enough time to react and move if it were aimed directly at my head.

That'd be my guess.  A decent sharpener may be able to straighten it out if that's the problem.  You can try calling Tenyru if you want but I've talked to their tech guys a couple of time and they don't know much.

Yeah, scary stuff when something done thousands of times goes suddenly wrong.

Had a chunk of cedar off cut destroy a blade in a DeWalt miter saw years ago, couldn't figure what happened either.
Blade was taken to the local sharpener, straightened it up and re-toothed the missing one and performed just as well if not better than factory original.

No blame assigned to either the saw or operator, it just happened.
