I was notching some 4x2 timbers today on my Kapex and twice the saw just stopped spinning the blade for about  5 seconds then started back up again? any ideas?  It can't of been overloading it cutting basically 4x1 timber... P.S. the timber was damp..

Cheers John...

There's a slip plate on the Kapex, just like on the TS 75. If the blade is binding or hits something that it can't cut, the slip plate allows the arbor to continue to spin but the blade to stop. It's a safety measure that prevents the likelihood of kick back.

I thought that the first time, but the power seemed to cut out. I pressed the trigger a few times and nothing happened for a couple of seconds, then it just started back up again???

Cheers
John..

Ok, I misunderstood your thread title and description. I was under the impression that just the blade stopped and the motor continued to run.

It's very possible that it was overload protection based on your description.

Thanks Shane, I will be cutting the same timber tomorrow, i will see if it happens again.

cheers  John..

When it is shutting down for only a few seconds, it doesn't sound like it would be related to overload. I would begin with checking the obvious and simple stuff, like making sure the power cord is fitting well into the outlet. Granted, for UK receptacles, this is not quite as likely. If that doesn't appear to be the cause, and this continues, then I would suspect maybe the trigger switch in the saw. This would be a service call.
