Kapex blades

Hi barnowl, thanks for the info on that, you mention the zero clearance inserts and adaptations to your kapex and Forrest for saw blades, Are Forrest available in the UK or internationally? if so, this could be useful. I prefer a cut to be as smooth as possible with minimal reworking but love my kapex for cutting perfect square cuts compared to my previos saw setup.

cheers for your feedback, it really helps.

They are available, but they make the Festool blades look cheap  [scared] http://www.rutlands.co.uk/pp+woodworking-power-tool-accessories-saw-blades-laminate-blades+c13106

John..

Hi John, cheers for that. do you know if this blade will fit the kapex? I'm assuming it does otherwise you wouldn't have mentioned it lol. is it a blade you have experience with? Festool's blades are alright, in fact for most of my work, amazing but the kapex blades are bloomin expensive

Hi, I have never used one, i would not pay that for a saw blade [big grin]. I have the Kapex standard blade and the Festool 80t one, which i think i paid about £75 for. I also use the cheap Trend blades with it.

John....

ah ha. rrp for the 80t blade was something about £180 or something like that when I last checked. I could do with replacing my standard anyway as it accidentally hit a piece of metal in a cut. hasn't damaged the blade but worth doing anyway as I'm having to remedy tear out. Any advice on  zero clearance inserts etc for the kapex?

I don't see how that should be a problem and thanks for that link, just what I'm looking for.  In my days with chop saws and radial arm saws, I've always used fine tooth blades but took them out to clean them / service them. something like this 90t should really achieve a silk smooth cut with minimal rework, just go slower on the feed in cut but still run high speed.

I was just thinking about getting a blade for framing lumber. I know Darcy could answer this over on CT but this threads running on here so what's a good low tooth count framing blade. I currently use the 60 which is a little over kill for studs.

NJHW

I've got one of those 90 tooth Forest blades as well as the Festool 60 & 80.  I get much cleaner cuts with the Forest blade.

It seems like on previous threads about the best Kapex blades the Tenyru has received the most praise.

I've always used Forrest Woodworker 2's for my table saw and the Chopmaster on previous miter saw but I've stayed with the stock Festool blade on my Kapex.

Now that it's been resharpened a couple of times it seems like it dulls quickly and always tears out on the exit.

Tenyru or Forrest?  That is the question.

Thank you Knight Woodworks, I will Try the Forrest 90t since I'm in NJ it will be easy to drop off for sharpening as well ,also thanks to Warner const Co I will try the Tenryu too it never hurts to have extra blades.

Sounds like it wasn't sharpened correctly. Forrest, Ridge, and other companies will also sharpen other manufacturer's blades.
