Just came home with my new Kapex and I have to say I am very happy with it. No complaints. So I went out and purchased a crown stop with base extension and I have to say that for the $122 that I spent on it, i would have expected that when it is attached to the base that it would be flush. With a little bit of movement and re-tightning the knob it still wasn't flush. So I went back to my dealer and he gave me another one and told me that I could keep the first one. Two for the price of one sounds great, but now I have 2 that are not flush. So there I was looking at my Kapex burning a few brain cells to see what I could do to rectify this. Then it came to me, Duct tape fixes everything. So applied 2 strips of tape on the v-section of the Kapex base and voila, everything is now flush. For the next version of the crown stop, Festool may want to make it possible to micro adjust the height of the extension to achieve flushness.

Those strips of tape in the v-section are good idea for everyone with a Kapex. Without them the paint of the Kapex base gets torn scraped off. Same goes for the cutting extensions.

The fit is a non issue.  I have moved miles of crown through my saw and that has never caused an issue.  As far as the paint, it is almost all wore off the bed of my saw.  It gets used a lot.
