Kapex cutting depth limiter

I'm having some issues with my Kapex 120.  I want to cut almost all the way thru some turning stock (I'll fill the kerf with contrasting wood to make a holloow form with a "Celtic knot").  The problem is that, with the depth limiter set to leave maybe 2 mm of wood left uncut, the blade doesn't go all the way thru, and at the back end, there is much more wood left, maybe a quarter inch at the back edge of the wood.  I could install an inch thick supplementary fence I guess, but that seems like quite the kluge.  Two things: why does it do this? and is there any way to prevent it (other than the supplementary fence)??  Many thanks.

I don't actually have a kapex but I can imagine due to the hinged way a miter saw works, you always have a circle cutting through wood. You are not able to slide that circle back far enough to let the lowest point of the blade come all the way back to the fence. A disposable fence would work perfect I suppose.

You will need to install a spacer behind the piece and the fence.  I don't know if you have seen the supplemental manual for the Kapex, but this point is covered in it if I remember correctly.

Look at page 14 in the Supplemental Manual. The Tall Miter Latching feature might get you what you want.

You need a 50mm spacer behind your blank.

[size=13pt]This is a commen problem with many brands, not just the Kapex when trench cutting. You have to use a spacer of sacrificial or slightly smaller in dimension wood.
