Kapex Dust Collection Modification

wow,

Thank you, that was a most helpful link.  As I have a need for a similar application on a non-Festool tool, I also did some research and found the material available in several places.  However, your link seems to be the best, both price wise and in ability to purchase in smaller amounts.

Hi guys,

I apologize for not responding more hastily. Yes, the 3 " bristles are readily available, and that's what I used for the first prototype that you see pictured. However, to reach the base of the saw, this had to be attached to the factory rubber boot, which still does not work with a zero clearance fence as well as it could.

The ones I'm putting together now completely replace the rubber boot by attaching the same way as the boot does. This way you have full length bristles, and no rubber boot. This way it can be used effectively with a zero clearance fence.

It was the longer bristles that were hard to source, as 1-3 inches seemed to be the standard.

I'll buy one when you have them available.  Video's of before and after would be great.

Great solution Dave, I must admit I was quite disappointed with the extraction on my kapex when I got it.
I would love to have one of those on my saw. If you do make some, could I please have one?
THANKS in advance.
