The dust collection on my Kapex is no where near as good as any video I've seen, I have the 27mm hose and the CT26 with the Oneida Dust Deputy.  I've checked for obstructions and the vacuum at the hose seems good. Anyon have any ideas?

Hi, yes, have a look for other threads on here under 'kapex dust collection', but experience suggests that it is much better with a 36mm hose, which I now use.  I too wasn't as impressed as I thought I would be, but it is considerably better than any other mitre saw I have owned.  Also, if you try it without the dust collection on you will see just how much IS being collected.  And, I think, what you see is just mess, but the more harmful dust is actually getting collected.

I switched to the short 36mm hose and saw better collection. My Midi is directly connected to the Kapex.

As mentioned by others, 36mm hose and shorter is better. Bob Marino sells a hose specifically for the Kapex. It's 36mm and pre cut.

Here is a simple dust collection comparison on a recent composite rail system project

Kapex: Hooked up to my CT MIDI with a 36mm x 1800mm hose (from Bob Marino)
Dewalt: Stock dust bag

At this stage I would estimate that my Kapex has roughly 100+ more cuts under it's belt cutting both rail sections and balusters. Notice the dust port on the Dewalt has clogged so this would most likely skew the dust data presented in the photos. But with continuous suction at the exhaust you never clog therefore no need to be aware nor do you have to maintain this during cutting operation. When I run the Kapex without duct collection the difference is very noticeable. At first I was looking for total dust collection but when you factor in materials, blade types, cutting technique and setup I still think the Kapex excels at dust collection compared to other saws.

Maybe I missed it, but did you use and or comment on the Dewalt with the vac and 36mm hose connected ?

My experience has been the bag decreases performance on the dewalt saws.  Never tried one on a Kapex. Did you run the Kapex with the dewalt bag attached to it ? I'm guessing it's horrible too.

Basically the bag is a loser on a mitersaw.

Comparing a bagged saw to one hooked to a vacuum is meaningless, regardless of which brand has which. I'm not saying the Kapex isn't better at collection, but that the comparison of vac vs. bag is pointless.

Hi [member=727]antss[/member]

Not really intended to show a dust collection comparison between two saws hooked up to collection systems. More of a collection system vs no collection in an effort to share with the OP that the dust collection, in my experience, with the Kapex is not 100%. I know when I have used the Kapex without collection hooked up there is a big difference. My Kapex images show a high percentage of collection for the OP, which I'm ok with. The 36mm hose does make a difference. Both hose diameter and length play a role in improved dust collection.

I had the images to support my dust collection "during" cutting operation and not so much time spent post cut cleanup. For the guys that I run into on some projects that continue to work without dust collection even in unoccupied environments such as this one. Then I saw this post.

The clip that holds the rubber duct at the start of the extraction channel has broken. Can I get that as a spare part? Also, I have lost one of the metal external angle extension arms on my Kapex 120 angle transfer device. Do they sell these as a spare part? I can’t find them anywhere on the web.

You can find the partnumbers (and prices) in ekat.
The clip for the dustfunnel is partnumber 471315.
The metal parts for the angle divider is 10016195 for the left and 10016194 for the right.

Ekat can usually be found in the service section of your country's festool website. It took me some time to find it on the festool.co.uk site, but it's  under service --) festool repair service --) spare parts catalogue. /edit: same goes for festoolusa.com.

You can find the kapex under saws, the angle divider has it's own drawing under saws --) accesories

Thank you so much! My first ever post on FOG answered instantly. Much appreciated!

Yes, glad I found this post, I bought the Kapex for quality of cuts and the fact that I have drank the Festool juice for sure, LOL
But the dust collection is not as good as my new Makita 10", I am sorley disappointed. $1475.00 and I have lots of dust. Even the fine airborne stuff is all over. I made sure my CT26 was not clogged or bag full etc. I used the proper festool hose and no dif, also hooked up my Rigid jobsite vac and same thing. I can make accurate cuts on my Makita, I was just hoping that all the high end videos that people put out there were honest. Im not saying they are liars Im just stating the facts about the saw.

As this thread states in many of the posts, you need a 36mm hose, and as short as you can get away with.
I bought a Festool 36mm hose for my Kapex but, still wasn’t content, so i made up a 36mm hose, 1300mm long. Big difference.

Any link to Bob Marino to purchase a 36mm x 1800mm hose?
