KAPEX Dust shoot

When I used my Kapex to cut bevels, I accidentally cut through the hard plastic dust extraction attachment. This does not look like anything critical to the machine but it seems to shoot out more dust now. I found the part number on line and called Festool service for assistance. I asked if this was a part that I might be able to reattach myself and was told "I don't know. How would I know what your skill level is?" I was very disappointed in this answer. I asked because the Kapex is not going to be an easy or inexpensive machine to package and ship. Has anyone out there ever replaced this part and can anyone give me any helpful thoughts? Thanks to anyone who can help.

Just order the part and attach it yourself, easy as pie. I do all my own maintenance on my tools, and also refurbished many used tools for resale, and working with Festools is easy.

In the FOG menu bar above, go to Additional Websites ----> Spare Parts Catalog to find exploded views of all your tools. Great help.

Snip. "I don't know. How would I know what your skill level is?"
That kind of reply...Wow!

By the way, why cutting bevels would cut into the attachment (the dust shroud?)?

Thank you Alex. ChuckM, I'm not sure how I do half the stuff I do to screw machines up! Good to have you guys out there to help.

I have just discovered that the part I am looking for has been discontinued! That is frustrating!

Festool guarantees 10 year spare part availability, I would be very surprised in case a part of the Kapex would be discontinued.

Which part exactly are you looking for?

Can you post a pic of the damaged part?  I damaged my Kapex in a similar manner.  I bought the part but before I could install it, the on/off switch went out.  I took the saw to the l ok so al Woodcraft  store and they shipped it to Festool free of charge.  When I got the saw back it was repaired and completely tuned up.
I would have to find it but if it's the same part I'll  send for cost of shipping.
