I got a awesome deal on a kapex today and was looking at the extensions online. Is it possible to get one extension and just move it to whatever side I need it on or did they make it so that right side will only attach to the right side of the kapex, etc.

Person who sold me the Kapex also has an MFT3 there, I am hoping it stays around till I get paid Thursday. I was suprised at how small the MFT3 is when it's just sitting there all by itself without anything on it.

Yes, it can be done.  Basically, you have to unscrew a few of the pieces and reverse them to the other side, reverse the tape, flip the legs.  If you're fast, maybe 5 minutes or so.  I wouldn't want to flip it back and forth often.

The MFT isn't large but it surely is handy.  Several of us have purchased two (2) for larger jobs.

Are you sure it was a MFT/3 and not the much smaller MFT/Kapex?

I'm looking at buying Kapex and MFT and extension set with crown stops. It kind of gets pr icy if you put it all together. So I'm still thinking about this set up. I considered saw helper wings but the idea of total integration that you get with Festool setup comforts me more.

I wonder however if Festool extensions would hold a piece as well as saw helper would? Anyone with experience could let me know.

Thank you.

I don't have the Festool extensions but I say with a fair amount of confidence the answer is no. The Sawhelper extensions are continuous where Festool's aren't. There's just no way I'll work without continuous support for my stock.

It could also have been and MFT 800. Were the legs black? Was the top square?

well, it was posted as an mft/3 and I cant remember if legs were black or if it had a square top anymore,  :-\.  I really didnt take a good look at it, I just sorta glanced at it. The Kapex was not attached to it when i was there.

nice, thnx. I havent used a miter saw much so am not sure why I would need to cut from both sides very often. This will definitely make life easier on me tho as I was doing miter cuts on my tablesaw.
