Kapex Extension Set vs. KA-UG-R-L

Pricing out some options and I'm trying to figure out the difference between these two sets.  I don't need the mobility of the UG setup but I like the price of the UG sides.  What am I getting with the Extension Set (No. P00107) over the KA-UG-R-L (No. 497514)?  Also, it looks as if I'll need to purchase the Crown Stops (No. 494369) to make the Extension Set work adding to the over all cost.

If there is a significant benefit to purchasing the Extension Set over the UG set then I don't mind doing so.

Thanks in advance,
Eric

The extension set P00107 is designed to attach to the crown stops, which you must purchase separately, with the Kapex on the smaller MFT-Kapex. They are much longer than the UG extensions once fully extended (16 feet versus 94"). They are also discontinued.

Both sets of extensions do basically the same job. Both have integrated tapes and stops. The UG extensions store better and are more compact to transport.

Thanks Shane,

So, how does one use the Crown Stop in conjunction to the UG extensions; or is this not something that is done?  What is the "Festool" way of holding crown on the Kapex to retain the proper spring angle without custom effort?

Eric, on the UG extensions, you cannot use our crown stops. The extensions attach to the same point that the crown stops would. You would need to clamp a piece of wood in place, for instance, for cutting crown. Some of of members have solutions they've come up with that they might be able to share.

Thanks Shane, I'll do a search!

Cheers,

With the UG stand and wings it is possible to swap the left and right wind and install them with the fence towards the front to use as crown stops.  Doesn't work well for short pieces of crown, but then the real crown stops have a large opening also.

Eric, I have the UG wings and to do crown, this is my solution (see photo). I purchased the UG mounts from multiblades.com they run about $100 for the pair. They replace the mount that comes on the wings. The have a piece of t-track mounted to them that allows you to span a board across the kapex bed to fully support your crown. This solution works really well for me!  Feel free to ask if you have any questions regarding these mounts!

Thanks Peter, I did come across this solution when I did my search.  Thank you for your response!

Bob, this is exactly what I think I'm looking for.  The feature of the Festool "Extension Set" that was most appealing was the ability to use their clamps.  This may just be the ticket.  Thank you very much for sharing!

I just bought the brackets from Multiblades. I know you use a piece of wood for your crown stop, but I already owned the Festool crown stops. The problem is they don't fit in the t-tracks. Does any one know of a different t-track that I could install that would accept the nut from the Festool crown stops?
