Kapex Extension Tables--Which ones?

I have a Kapex and the Kapex MFT. I would like to add extension tables. Festool offers two types. The type that works with the UG mobile stand looks a little more robust--my question is: does this extension table set require the mobile stand (which I don't have or need), or can it attach directly to the saw, which in my case is sitting on its MFT. I note that there is another extension table set. Does this offer any benefit that the UG extensions do not?

The UG stands work fine with the Kapex mft and they attach directly to the saw.  Works great if you do not need the mobility of the mobile stand.

There's always the option of purchasing the crown stops and making your own outfeed beyond that which would mount to the crown stop table.

This is slightly more cost effective and will allow you to make whatever size outfeed you need.

I do use the UG extensions in the field as they are lighter, smaller and easier to fit into my work truck along with all of my other gear!

It seems that it was all actually thought out to use the height of 900 mm. The top of the MFT/3, the Kapex on either the UG or the MFT/3 Kapex, the top of the CMS, even the top of the UG handle when it is folded...

The older style extension tables have a bunch of drawbacks over the UG extensions.
Advantages of the UG: ease of setup and transport, continuous material support, the kapex fences can slide off without detaching the extensions, they are less expensive.

But they also have a few advantages: the support is a bit wider (especially for the slide out extension), the vertical support is higher (especially with the plastic things on top, but those sit in the way of the flagstops), the flagstops are wider, they work with the crownstops and they can also be used as trimstops for the mft3 and CS tablesaws (the ruler is easily adjustable).

But if you consider the older style extensions you should get atleast 2 additional worksupports (which luckily aren't that expensive, unlike the ones for the dewalt stand) (order numbers: 437671 (metal plate), 482110 (knob), 451630 (nut))

I found the UG mobile stand clumsy out on site, narrow doorways and stairs i found it better to carry it, but then you have to take the saw of the base
you have to level the base then level the wings with the saw table, if you move it you have to do it again, or a cable or hose catches the wing legs (that don't lock)
it kicks the ends up ???
i got rid of the roller base and set this up now with the UG wings , I find them really good and once calibrated to your saw ,the stops are spot on
its faster to set up as the wings are level with the table always. Now i can drag it around small rooms and its always right
i breaks down just as quick too
this works for me but everyone is different

I opted for the older versions as I have the Kapex MFT and 2 reg MFTs. I use it as a trim extended trim stop it sets up easy on the MFTs when they are used for infeed outfeed tables for the Kapex.

Havent figure out how to use the stands with them yet… [sad]

But I havent put much effort into figureing it out either.

That's a cool way to use it with the DW stand.

That pic really demonstrates how the Kapex can be right up close to a wall.

Use the old style extensions with the MFT/3?

The new (UG) style extensions work with the Kapex on the Kapex / MFT also.

Id be curious to know how you get the far ends of the Festool wings fastened so they don't move on your Dewalt stand?

Skids I used one of the square nuts off the legs and drilled a hole in the Dewalt supports, and a m6 wing bolt
i still have the legs so i can put them on again to use them with the CMS or MFT

Seth it is great that you can keep the Kapex right back to the wall on jobs where space is a premium

Thanks, this is great to actually see. Some added fliexbility for those with the dewalt stand and nice to know the Kapex wings can be retrofitted.
