As the time for the Kapex draws near, planning for delivery is starting to make sense.  I have been looking for table extensions for the Kapex and see nothing listed either on the Festool mini site or in the catalog.  If I look at the picture on the masthead of this forum there is a Kapex with a nice looking extension.  I have seen some kapex videos the latest being a safety video using the same extensions.  Does anyone know anything about these extensions.  Are they a Festool product?  If so will they be available and at what price??

Any information would be appreciated

Thanks Steve but I know about these I am talking about long extensions with folding legs, supports and a stop block.  I am looking at it right now at the top of the page on the FOG.  It is one of the pictures that alternates at the top.

Thanks anyway for your reply

Shane,

Thats a bummer, what are our options... there is no way I'm mounting this beautiful saw on my Dewalt stand.

Mirko, one word, Sawhelper. I know its not for everyone, but this is a great tool and should really add to the overall value of the saw. My 2 cents, Shane will add his own.

Carl,

At this time, we will not be offering the Festool extensions in the U.S.

Is this not the same extensions seen in the WoodWhisperer video on safety last week?

Brice,

I like to touch before I buy, haven't had the opportunity.

NAICANADA

Never met a soul on a job site with Festool, let alone a Sawhelper :-\
I'll take your word for it though.

I'm going to open a can of worms here...
Marc gets them why can't we?

What does it take to get in bed with Festool around here? :P

Well, I said "not at this time".  That's not to say that we won't offer them.  Unfortunately, I don't really have any more information to share other than that.

Sorry your reply was too diplomatic for my short mindset.
We will wait... what else is new?  ;)

I have purchased the "pimped out bundle" that Timmy C is offering  just because I heard and read so much about the Sawhelper Ultrafence from Timmy, Tom Gensmer and Brice. While I unfortunately do not yet have my Kapex, I do have the Ultrafence and have set it up with my Makita LS1013. What a dream the Sawhelper system is and very similar to Festool in quality. As I was told up front the initial setup is a little lengthy but after that you have an incredible system that is portable, unbelievably strong, accurate and very easy to use. I purchased the crown setup as well and am in the process of installing that as well. Completely different from any miter saw system I have ever seen and worth every penny.. Fred

Thanks for the information as disappointing as it may be.  I certainly  hope Festool changes it's mind and imports the extensions.  You obviously have one designed and produced elsewhere and the old "delay for UL approval" gambit should not make much difference for extensions and stands.

take a look at the rigid chop saw stand at home depot.  its marked down to 99 dolars.  has 2 side roller on ententions that go out 3+' and they actually have drop down suppots to keep the extention from bending down.

not heavy duty but cheap.

I dunno if you guys want to go to the effort -

There is a company called 80-20 that makes aluminum extrusions
that tinkerers can use to make there own cool-looking stands.

I have seen pictures of folding panel saws made out of this
stuff and it looks like they work well.

I had a dream that some day this would be replaced with
a Kapex.

What am I smoking.

Too old for that.

The mind is the second thing to go.

I'm still trying to remember the first.

As a European I'd say you Americans are being treated criminally in this matter! It's such a GREAT extension tool, especially since it has a 'stop' on it as well as centimeters (I know, I know... not inches).
Here in Holland it's sold for some 400 dollar but I'm gonna buy it no matter what!
Maybe you guys can bundle up and import several of these things from a dealer, internet-shop, whatever in Europe?
