Hey guys,

So the FFX Tool Show is this weekend,

I've been interested in the Kapex for a while now and been pondering over the purchase for some time, Seeing that this show was coming up I asked a member of staff what sort of price the 120 UG set was going for, the response I got was "we can promise it will be cheaper than the cheapest price in the UK"..

Tease!

The show is the other end of the UK for me to go and see the price, and was wondering if any of the FOG members are going, and if so, wether they could enlighten me with the price?  [wink]

Many thanks,

~WW

My evil side is thinking of cutting our Kapex price to something silly while their show is on. Then you can all use the price on our website to get yourselves a bargain from them.

[big grin]

That definitely happens in retail! sometimes when another company runs a promotion at a loss or massive discount, the other companies literally buy up all their stock!

Anyway, back to FFX. I think the show has already started, but what they used to do is put up their prices by a small margin online before the show then at the show offer around a 12% or something similar from memory. I have forgotten exactly how much. They have promised to be the lowest UK price so you should get a good offer.

But if you plan to spend a lot or are on a budget usually come prepared with rival prices, I don't think mobile internet works very good at the Kent showground if you plan to check.

By special request from someone there, as I can't be...  [crying]

That's below our cost price but not even close to the cheapest deal online, a quick search brought up several dealers less than that.

Even their own website is £1 cheaper.  [huh]

I did do a quick check because it didn't look like a "deal" to me either and I'd agree, several dealers cheaper but not by much.

Definitely not worth the OP travelling to pick one up in person!

Yep, shows are great for looking at product and talking to manufacturers, seeing demonstrations and generally mooching around handling tools in the flesh, but all too often 'Show Deals' are poor value.

Warren do you know ETR tools in Ashford is closing down ?

They're my nearest festool dealer who I bought my first festool from before I knew you. Not used them for years as they're a bit ignorant especially in the festool bit.

Anyway they used to supply the film studios quite a bit so might be an avenue for you if you're not already.

On my phone at the moment so can't browse sites which are picture heavy at the moment, what sort of price do you sell the Kapex 120 UG set for [member=8822]toolfest.co.uk[/member] ?

Many thanks,

Hi WW

We're at £1460 but I have seen them at £1287. You may find it even cheaper at a new dealer. New dealers get extra discount and can sell at less than we buy. It's a crazy world.

New dealers can sell them cheaper than long running dealers?.. Wow! May have to do a bit more research before I part with some money!

Yep, that's what we were told by a new dealer, so a savvy customer should seek out a new dealer and have a chat, could save you hundreds.

...

^They would have to be running a thin margin.^

I cannot believe that FT resellers are on that thin a margin, especially with the previous issues of resellers getting their dealership removed for offering specials.

I don't know the margin but it is a common accurance
or should I say praxis to get new costumers on the expense
of the one that is supporting you for ages
The longtime costumer is taken for granted
I am not even saying this is the case but it would not surprise me
Banking industry is doing it for ever
Lumber yards are doing it
Business practices are changing rapidly where the word honest
is not known
It I becoming to be like the car salesmen (horses before) word

No way of finding where the newest dealers are though? :(

Or become a dealer but keep all the tools :)
