Kapex just died

You know, I don't agree with this stonewalling approach, but it seems to be the way of the world when a problem is NOT safety related.  Since you brought up Honda, look up the oil dilution issue with the 1.5L turbo motors.  I currently own one and their handling of this might make this my last Honda.  It's hard to single out Festool when it really is a more systemic issue with companies peddling consumer goods.

Businesses can take the path of doing the minimal (as required by law)  or doing the right thing, and anything between. Each customer has to decide for themselves what works for them when a company chooses one path over the other.

I deal regularly with one Canadian woodworking vendor because it always takes the path of doing the right thing (have you ever dealt with a company that sends you a refund cheque because it has lowered a product price soon after you bought that item?). All my big purchases (SawStop, all Festool machines, premium hand tools, etc.) came from that vendor. There're at least three other vendors which carry the SawStop and Festool products here. Could I be overpaying sometimes by sticking to this particular vendor? May be, but I know my loyalty is earned.

Of course, your mileage may vary. We all are different.

Hello All:

How many dollars does it cost to get a repair completed using Festool service?

Can you purchase the necessary parts and perform the work yourself?

Rick

Several hundred dollars at least if I recall correctly about the past stories.

Yes, you can fix it yourself with parts according to someone who has done that and even posted some kind of tutorial. Of course, it is not like replacing a light bulb or a worn brush. My guess is most of us Kapex owners can't or don't want to do that. One more thing: you need to know exactly what parts should be replaced after the smoke appeared.

That applies to lots and lots of things, regardless of brands.

So, any older model 120 EB machines, I think after October 2017 were fitted with upgraded parts.

Thanks for that. Checked the date on mine... 2018. Hopefully it'll carry on chopping!
