Kapex KS 120 EB Blade Jam, Won't Power On

In cross cutting a 2x6, somehow the rubber dust extraction boot got sucked up into the blade, jammed hard into the top of the cover. A couple of motor pulses would not dislodge it. I pulled off the left side cover, and managed to extract out the mangled dust boot. But now the Kapex won't power on, although I know it's getting power, because the lasers still illuminate. I'd appreciate ANY helpful comments on troubleshooting the problem. I think I'll probably have to replace both left and right side covers because the plastic mounting ears attaching the dust hood clip were broken off. :( Also, I pulled the motor cover, but don't see any loose wires or obvious black dust showing that I've blown the motor...photos attached.

Check to see if the Fastfix blade lock knob is engaged vs in the operating position. You would have had to do that to get the blade out.

Peter

Peter - the Fastfix blade lock knob was stuck for a while, but seems to be freed up now. It is in currently in the operating position as I try to start the saw - to no avail.

Rats. I was hoping for an easy solution for you. I haven't had to go into my Kapex so I can't give you the world's best help. Hopefully someone else here can. Is it fair to assume that the head can be pivoted down with the trigger partially depressed? Any abnormalities other than it not turning on?

Peter

Peter, thanks for taking a stab at my problem!
Yes, the head can be pivoted down with the trigger partially depressed.
I didn't note any abnormalities other than the gears sounded a little rougher than normal. But of course now, the saw won't turn on to hear anything.

The blade does not rotate freely when I try to spin it by hand. But while it does rotate, it feels like it's engaged with some gears that feel "bumpy, " if that makes sense.
