Hi, I'm looking to buy a ks 60 but not sure if I can justify the price. I'm a cabinet installer and only need it for trimming the odd wardrobe cleat and hanging rails etc the dewalt is $1000 dollars cheaper but I just see green and want it  [big grin] any advice would be great.

Hi Steve

I have a KS120 which was part of my very first Festool purchase in 2010. I love it but would think very hard about the KS60 if I were buying a new mitre saw today.

This may help - video Part 1:

For me, the lighter weight and vastly superior dust collection swung the decision to sell my old miter saw and go Festool. Better breathing and very little clean up.

No. Just no.

Makita LS0714.

Cheaper, lighter, better built from better materials, just as accurate, more robust, identical dust control ability, cheaper blades, cheaper service, massive crosscut capacity, 100% reliable. A small football player, not a small ballerina.

For what you're doing, save the cash and buy something else you'll really use and enjoy.

I can recommend the Dewalt 716, or for you, the 10" model would be good. If you take time to set it up, install a dust shroud, and don't drop it out your van, it will serve you very well. I've had my 716 for over 3 years, use it every day, and don't see much reason to get a Kapex for what you're doing.

I like the size of the KS 60 and am sure dust collection will be great but I'm hanging fire til they make a cordless version.
I don't fancy chucking a load of money at the corded one only for it to be superseded a year later with the cordless version.

The people who only ever work in workshops can just keep quiet now cos I'm on sites where power is variable at best. Nowadays I need a VERY good reason to buy a corded tool.
