I have my new kapex and I am having the following problem:

-Setting the Laser on.  I pressed the button for the laser to turn on and nothing happens.  Any ideas on how to turn on the laser.

-It does not cut straight through vertically.  There is allows a small piece left.  The depth setting.  How to set the depth?  Which adjustment to use?

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Cheers,

Meezo

Their is a green leaver on the right lift it up to the top!  Also make sure the lock down rod is fully pulled out as this can also stop the kapex fully plunging!

Laser!  You have plugged the kapex in and turned the power on right? Joking! Make sure your press the bottom properly a soft press doesnt always turn it on it takes I good press to turn it on.   How are you powering the Kapex?  Directly into a power outlet or into something like a Non festool Vac.

Here is Brice Burrell's web site you can see he has a arrow to the depth stop leaver make sure thats fully up!
and just below that der is another green knob make sure thats fully pulled out

When I bought my Kapex reading the manual a couple of time to learn all it's features was needed.

As for the laser, it should work work with a firm push of the switch item 2.1 on the diagram in the manual. If that does not work call Festool.

Are you saying it is not cutting at 90 degrees vertically when you bring down the blade? Go to page 14 of the manual and read about vertical mitre angles to see how to adjust for your problem.

Or are you saying that  you are not getting the depth to cut fully through a board? If so go to  page 17 and read about the cutting depth limiter.

Cheers,
Steve

People say there are other SCMS available which accomplish nearly everything doable on a Kapex. Certainly over many years I have owned a lot of different radial arm and power miter saws. Beside my several Kapex currently I own a 10" (250mm) Hitachi miter saw and a 22" (550mm) radial arm saw. Each have their purposes.

To gain the many benefits of the Kapex requires some experience and a willingness to learn about the Kapex without constantly comparing it to other SCMS. Festool provides an ops manual and there are excellent supplemental manuals. There are demo videos and instructional videos.

I had the advantage of visiting Europe while the Kapex was being introduced, so I had the chance to try Kapex shortly before they were launched. On subsequent visits to Europe I used Kapex belonging to friends, sometime with coaching from Festool reps. Then here in the USA in the months leading to the NA Kapex launch I had the chance to gain coaching from Festool USA reps. Since taking delivery of my first Kapex a few minutes after midnight they day my dealer could let us take delivery, I have coached many new Kapex users.

Yes, there are tricks to getting the most from Kapex. For these reasons I encourage everyone to participate in such Festool classes as "Intro to Festool" and "Cabinet Construction" and "Doors and Drawer" and "Solid Surface" In fact we also used the Kapex during "Advance Router"

Every time I see Steve Bace and Brian Sedgeley coaching anyone using a Kapex I learn more.

Are you sure you bought a "new" Kapex?  Or is it "new" to you... [scratch chin]
